Horoscope by Victor Olliver
March 21-April 20
With ruler Mars in chart house of relationships throughout this month, the quality of social and intimate bonds comes under focus – and this could involve anyone from partner to the engineer you’ve called in to fix your rumbling radiators. This house is also to do with ‘your’ public and PR. At the best of times you’re pretty assertive, and it would be fair to say that this month, your natal aggression or pointedness will be much more on display – certainly if you’re pushing for progress or dangling for publicity, Mars will help you. But you’re going to have to be clever to get entirely what you want – more subtle, conniving, manipulative or just more sensitive. The 17th is a great day to get across new ideas. The time around the 19th is a bad time to lock into power tussles. If you can play down your disruptive side and play more the diplomat, life should proceed at quite a pace without spilling blood on the dancefloor.
April 21-May 21
Life really does start to pick up from the 7th when ruler Venus passes into the house it rules – the 7th house in the Sun chart. Here, the qualities of Venus – sensuality, diplomacy, social performance, money, etc – are enhanced. Instincts are sharper to repair relationships that may have faltered or to negotiate a rapprochement between warring parties. Oh, and the other parties! Get thee to a social function and shine. All events that feature canapes, champagne and LBDs will act as your foil, enabling you to get the better of souls through simple light chatter. The 13th and days either side are especially fortuitous, when Venus meets Jupiter in Scorpio. Any group challenge, or any activity that requires cooperation and/or competency, is blessed. This is a period of personal growth for you. The time around the 19th is also favourable for money matters, dealing with overseas interests or people in education/law. One’s aura bears a lovely scent.
May 22-June 21
Rather like Aries and Taurus, relationships with nearest and dearest, friends, colleagues, countrymen and partners and lovers come under scrutiny – yours in particular. The difference is that you’re analysing, probing, assessing, plotting. Your ‘targets’ could be people you work with or socialise with or even sleep with – but whichever, something has arisen that urges you to give more careful thought to how you regard and treat others if you wish to win. With ruler Mercury in Sagittarius opposite your birth Sun sign, most probably there’s discord in your life at present, not that this stops you from living your life; but certainly, you’re intelligent enough to recognise the need for a healing balm as supplied by compromise! Around the 25th is a creative time for novel or original or just bold thinking and words. And the 28th is a moment of serious reflection when a heavy or difficult decision has to be made. The mind may be super-sober now, but it is also clear about what needs to be done in sorting out nonsense with others. Remain firm but kindly.
June 22-July 22
The average Crab (“Who are you calling ‘average’?”) will be feeling a lot of energy or disruption or just ‘something’ in the home and family environment. This is thanks to Mars working its way through your own solar house – and the cause of the commotion could very well be you as you struggle to balance domestic demands with your desire to get out into the world and shake your booty. Whatever it is is sure to reach a climax right at the end of November, going into early December: it’s really a case of something needing to change to give you rather more freedom of action; and the means to this end could be on the drastic side. Oh well, keeps life interesting! But why this restlessness? It’s because your chart is urging you to excel in your own right, to vent power inner urges that may be sexual, creative or just hobbyist. New Moon in Scorpio on the 18th marks a new phase of about a fortnight during which an initiative to express a passion of any kind helps to bring life back to you so that you’re not forever feeling put upon or oppressed by responsibilities.
July 23-August 23
Not all Leos are noisy – some can be peculiarly quiet, such is their regal pride! Of all the signs, Leos can give a very good impression of being Scorpio before they finally open their mouths and deliver a tinnitus-inducing roar. This is a month for roaring. You will find that life just keeps giving you opportunities to get out there and say your piece – the final days of November are especially turbulent when there’s the risk of stirring up a controversy at work, in the family or in your neighbourhood. Whether it’s the force of your views or what you have to say that’s the cause of disturbance I cannot be certain. But you’d be advised to exercise some restraint. So much more can be achieved by the implication of power rather than its exercise through brute force. Try a little persuasion. Though the issue cannot be identified here, it will be to do with new projects or plans to break a mould. Meantime, buy yourself a gargling liquid and be kind to vocal cords.
August 24-September 22
From the 6th, events turn your mind much more to the family area and the home. What can this mean? Just about anything. Plans for Christmas. Repairs? Whatever happened to Julie last known as Uncle Joe. A relative may present you with a conundrum or challenge – none of this is good or bad, just life. The mind is a laser and it’s aimed at your post code. Working in your favour is the state of your mind which this month is more compassionate than usual (not that you’re naturally mean or anything), more empathetic and generally kinder to other people in your circle (as opposed to being super-critical at times). All this will enable you to avoid wasting too much energy on confrontation. Mid-month is a particularly happy time for you. If you’re trying to break into a new world, welcome! If you’re on the party circuit, razzle-dazzle. And if you’re keen to forge new contacts, welcome again! So, all in all, a month to look forward to.
September 23-October 23
If the past month has been a lot about your appearance, image and social connections – a great phase in which to reinvent how people see you and what they see – ruler Venus’ move into your financial sector is both a blessing and a curse. Of the latter – well, it won’t feel like a curse. It will feel more like you’ve gone to heaven without the death bit. Venus in this chart region makes you super-sexy, mega-extravagant and awfully self-indulgent, darling. If you have a poodle, you will adorn it with satin bows only from Harrods. Or maybe you’ll wear the satin bows. The home could become the final destination of opulence or that expensive Queen Anne clock you can’t really afford. So, that’s the curse bit. The happier news is that Venus is now where it thrives in the getting of money and the development of business. Venus is the planet of money: the 13th and the 21st and the days around these dates are very much a gift from the heavens for boosting income or making a sensible strategic business decision. The 21st is especially favourable in relation to property/home matters. Now, how pretty do you look in satin bows? Woof!
October 23-November 22
Often called manipulative and cryptic (the cheek!), Scorpios are frightfully maligned at times. Anyone would think that you were the spawn of Dracula. But of course, only third-rate astrologers peddle such myths. We know who they are, oh yes. I say this because what I am about to say may seem to support the myths. Nothing could be further from the truth. This month you are not what you seem. You are indeed in a much more watchful mood, perhaps because you instinctively sense that this is not the moment to act or ‘surface’. This is your month, lucky Jupiter is in your sign – so on the surface there’s an optimistic mood and likely expansion of your personal gifts. But you know better! The Scorpio chart now supports under-the-cover initiatives. Do not blurt out your ideas to all and sundry. Play Dracula a little and beware the glare of others’ sunlit interest. Boldly go as a submarine does, under the lapping waves. In all matters now, life works the more you conceal it from the optics.
November 23-December 21
Philosophical or psychological ideas are filling your head as you re-orientate the mind to new bearings in a world that feels different because you’re changing. Out there in the world, Theresa May is still PM and starlings still flock together. Nothing much has actually altered. The inner personal revolution however is at full tilt, and this continues this month as ruler Jupiter stays in the shadows and reflects on truth, the past and who’s for or against you. This does not mean that you’re clad in a religious habit necessarily. Or chained to the temple walls. Socially, life has picked up. Mars is driving you to reconnect, connect, to truffle out fellow-travellers and/or to start or restart a business. The road is rocky. Disruptive Uranus sits opposite in the chart, so be prepared for disputes or sudden rifts. Your grail is greater independence in the expression of self, as manifested by creativity, philosophy, ideals or choice of partners. Carry on then, onwards! No, you’re no saint, never will be. Just another human being finding their way. Like the rest of us!
December 22-January 20
Next month ruler Saturn heads into your sign, its natural place, and a marker of slow fundamental change in your life. This will have been a hard year for many of you. As Saturn approaches the end of Sagittarius through November, you will be in especially reflective mood, harking back to the past or reflecting on those things that can be trusted or must be finally be evicted from your life. It could be that any major limit on your life has now bid you adieu. Think of this a time of recovery or preparation. Mars will be helping in November to push career interests, but ready yourself for distractions to do with home or personal security: there is a way forward but first things must be attended to do in the family or over property. You want to cement your new sense of independence, this is good, but remember that the life script can be different from expectations. To thrive in this time, always look behind the appearance, the presentation, the PR. Think ambitiously certainly, but you operate best once you understand the whole picture. So December time is the better month for action.
January 21-February 19
Life right now is nothing if not, er, stimulating. Lively, shall we say? With Venus and Mars opposing your ruling planet this month, how could things not be? Oppositions are not necessarily ‘bad’ things in astrology. When two celestials stand against each other, the outcome can be most enriching if some attempt has been made to learn from another, listen, compromise or otherwise attempt to placate. So, Venus assures you volatility and excitement in social engagements and in all endeavours where you’re breaking into new ground, such as education or law. The warning: beware disrupters or getting carried away by anything novel or exotic. Just think twice before you embark. Mars against Uranus is certainly potentially stormy: perspectives may clash, screams may fill the night on Haunted Hill. Just kidding! But someone is sure to oppose a plan of action – or you yourself must moderate a strategy. Definitely coming to your aid this month is Venus which from the 7th brings fragrant energies to career – prepare for much partying and good news from social performance, such as at work events.
February 20-March 20
The month starts with much promising cosmic energy for all projects linked to overseas, education, scholarship, law, the countryside or great outdoors – or anything which marks a relaunch for you, such as a new job. Your co-rulers Jupiter and Neptune are nicely in a trine that capitalises on your creativity, sensitivity or compassion as constituents of a new life. Your mind at the start of the month continues to remain bold and adventurous. And from the 5th, Mercury zips into your career house which enhances your understanding of work-related challenges and/or your status or reputation. Mars, in the chart region that governs relationships and money (and also the swirling undercurrents of psychology) will help you push matters to do with domestic property and banks or involving tricky people, such as partners – you will tend to take the initiative, and so expect some turbulence towards the end of month. Mid-month is a wonderful time to expand through new and exciting companions, as Venus parties with Jupiter in the chart house that loves foreign lands or life-lands that feel foreign.
