Hello Ethical Hedonists!

I have so much to tell you! It has been a very busy August at EH HQ. So let’s get started. EH is all about celebrating the craft of iconic, independent, ethical journalism and storytelling. We want to captivate  you all with our green and sexy revolutionary ideas! As we look ahead to an Indian summer and the beginning of autumn, we have some very exciting celebrity interviews with green icons, film projects and opinion pieces for you to get involved in and new team members to introduce you to. You can get involved and support this journalistic and conscious, earth friendly publishing phenomenon via our new monthly crowd funding page @patreon – for affordable membership of our media tribe, with exclusive rewards, experiences, prizes and a special reader finder service. Or you can support via our Paypal button on the homepage. It’s your green and sexy magazine!

Right, let’s get started. I am collaborating with two award winning filmmakers – Elisar Cabrera, co-founder of the Raindance Film Festival and Troy Aidoo, who garnered an award for his Rambert Dance video and has a special interest in seeing ethical fashion flourish.  Elisar and Troy are teaming up to film my stellar interview with Safia Minney and Sven Segal, creative director of Po-zu Shoes, for a filmed interview focused on their cutting edge, fashion innovation shoe collection, inspired by the beloved characters in Star Wars. Yes, this is the point where sustainable fashion reaches for the galaxy, and I be will there to report on it for you. The interview takes place at the Museum of Brands on August 31st and we are crowd funding the film budget right now! You can back us via our @patreon page or via our Paypal button on the homepage – thank you.

We’ve had some fantastic pledges, thank you, keep them coming. Everyone who backs this project will be entered into a draw to win a pair of Resistance Sneakers for men or women, worth up £120, kindly donated by Po_zu and your name will go on the video, as a thank you. We would also love to hear from sustainable and organic business sponsors, who would like to have their name and branding on the finished video and get involved in sharing the interview via our YouTube and all our combined social channels. Want to reach for the ethical stars? Then this is the moment to do it.

I can also announce that I have a podcast interview and long form written interview coming up with scientist and television presenter, Professor Alice Roberts, in late September. Alice Roberts is an ambassador for Green People, for their 20th anniversary year celebrations. Green People is one of the UK’s trailblazing, certified organic skincare companies and is highly respected for harnessing the power of plant science. I have never forgotten my first editorial meeting with Charlotte Vohtz, the founder of Green People. It took place at a celebrated vegetarian restaurant in Brighton, called Terre a Terre. Charlotte and I really hit it off, and talked most of the afternoon! We put the world to rights over uplifting botanical cocktails and exquisite, wonderfully inventive plant cuisine. I am looking forward to talking to Alice about how science and nature can work together for a sustainable future, along with her thoughts on ideals around beauty, living a green life, adventure and advice for readers who would love to follow in her footsteps.

I am currently working on the questions for a day in the life interview with actor Guillaume Rivaud, co star of Poldark and Dr Who and the forthcoming Mordred the film. Guillaume is also a tireless ambassador for WWF UK and Greenpeace UK. Our interview was agreed following a sparkling exchange on twitter – the best place to make new friends and find fantastic interviews! We also hope to accompany Guillaume on a special project with @WWF soon.

As if this wasn’t enough to keep me and our EH elves very busy, you will find all the usual scintillating features on Ethical Hedonist, including fearless, up close and personal wildlife reporting, slow fashion features on the stars of fashion revolution, green banking and business news, holistic health stories, organic and slow food recipes, witty spy columns, hot nature and conservation stories, plus news, events and iconic storytelling from my journalistic archive. If there is a burning topic you really want us to cover, get in touch.

Remember lovely singer songwriter, Sarah Class, from our feature with Sir David Attenborough? Sarah is a world-renowned composer and ethereal singer song writer, celebrated for her work on some of the BBC’s flagship natural history programmes, including Africa and Madagascar. She also scored the music for Harvey Weinstein’s Meerkats and has composed special pieces of musical for Nat Geo and the Discovery Channel.  I will be interviewing Sarah in September/October, and we are planning to crowd fund a filmed slow fashion story with her! Get in touch if you would love your sustainable fashion house to be featured on this nature loving, musical goddess.

Oh and one last thing. I am writing an opinion piece on why it is a cynical and extraordinary mistake for a pioneering, much loved, organic food company to launch a non organic chocolate bar that sounds like a brand of posh loo paper. I am sure you all know exactly whom I am talking about!

Keep in touch via our social pages –  until next time, AJ, Elisar, Troy, Victor, Ana Maria and Kevin xx
