February Horoscope by Victor Olliver
March 21-April 20
The professional-social theme follows you into February, despite a soulful, reflective mood throughout this month. Neptune’s old house is planetarily populated in your solar chart so past lovers, friends, situations and their simulacra – what we sometimes call déjà vu – are more likely to haunt your days, like phantoms. But don’t be too dismissive. Sometimes a comeback person or set-up offers another chance to get it right second time around. So remain watchful; avoid reflexive judgement. High point of the month, of course, is when ruler Mars (with fragrant Venus) enters its natural sign, Aries, in its traditional house, on the 20th. Social life will pick up with gusto. Even as you meditate privately or wallow in ylang-ylang-scented spas, time will be found for pretty ferocious networking – more about which in March.
April 21-May 21
Your ruling planet Venus is usually a rather fun-loving and (self-)indulgent, a really quite materialistic celestial which (in your case) corresponds to a particular fondness for luxury, domestic security and a certain snuggly conservatism. Of course there’s tremendously more to you than all that. In February, another aspect of Venus reveals itself – people-pleasing, probably in a good cause. Now, think laterally. Not every Taurean will be petitioning for global peace or an end to size zero super-models. People-pleasing is the lubricant all groups require to keep thinks civilised, especially if there are differences of opinion. Mars (or ego) is back to strength in Aries from the 20th, yet its proximity to Venus and its transit in Pisces’ traditional house divert much energy into getting to know yourself better – this can be a private process or one involving some kind of specialist to guide you.
May 22-June 21
Ambition – in career matters especially – is intense. Progress is likely. But there’s a cosmic trip-wire to beware. Mars (alias Ms/Mr Thrust) is in the same house as Pisces Neptune (alias Ms/Mr ‘Airy-Fairy’). The two planets even merged briefly last month. Traditionally, many stargazers declare this denotes ‘discouragement’ or ‘disappointment’. The truth, as ever in astrology, is far more interesting. It’s true that crude, Wolf-of-Wall-Street-type cravings for status and wealth in itself are not helped by the marriage of Mars and Neptune. What the two together incline you towards is trust in a higher power (whatever that means to you) and greater empathy displayed to fellow human beings on the road to success. A major means towards self-fulfilment is through locating that part of you that helps serve others – as well as self. Creative and healing energies are strengthened now – doctors, nurses, healers of any kind, artists are among the favoured.
June 22-July 22
First week sees you in bold condition, advancing a monetary project of some sort with greater confidence, with Sun and Jupiter opposite on your chart’s financial axis (and Mars inconjunct Jupiter). Act with a degree of caution however. The danger is making a miscalculation based on arrogance or hubris. But confidence makes you feel good. Mercury’s forward move from the 11th also has a likely financial resonance: if any dealings with banks, business partners or others with whom you share resources have been gooey these past three weeks, the next few weeks should be easier, particularly towards the end of this month onwards. From the 20th (and through March) career or status draws out the go-getter in you as Mars strengthens in its own sign of Aries. Fortunately, Venus is close by to smooth your edges and channel aggression into social dynamism: colleagues and bosses could be impressed by this ‘revived’ you.
July 23-August 23
As in January, your attention is very much on the state of certain key relationships – working for other people’s cooperation, agreement, understanding. For Leo this is not always the happiest of conditions: your natal default setting is substantial self-confidence and self-motivation – you know what you want: why can’t others see it? Mercury retrograde (since January 21) increases the likelihood of mismatched objectives and misunderstanding. But the planets in general in your solar chart are helping you to do whatever can maximise potential. And right now that potential is largely dependent on the goodwill and good offices of others. Pisces New Moon on the 18th is marvellous for a start-up because it’s at 0.00 degree in Scorpio’s traditional house: a new partnership (intimate or business), a new financial/business venture – a new anything really involving ideas of sharing or ‘partnership’ – is well blessed on this day or in the next four weeks.
August 24-September 22
Sun is still in Virgo’s old house to the 18th, so your natural gifts for criticism, close analysis – but also for ensuring things are right, such as facts – are in full display. A typical Virgo will not shirk from and grumble at this seemingly mind-numbing process: for you, self-liberation is found through accuracy. No matter your surface appearance or what you say socially, back at your desk you instinctively delve for fault. Among co-workers you ensure processes are optimised. Pisces New Moon on the 20th occurs at 0 degree suggesting the start of something to do with a partnership or a bond with any kind of adviser or the public. If this does not occur in the next month it could be that you become acutely aware of the need for the support of a specialist – or even an intimate partner.
September 23-October 23
The ‘passion’-centre house of your solar chart remains busy this month. How this affects you depends on life situation and birth chart. At one end of the spectrum, many Librans will be experiencing frustration as an inner drive to have fun or express a personal vision or pleasure (such as via a hobby) is constrained by work, duties, time or inhibition. Tension is inevitable as you fight against a restriction. At the other end of the spectrum, many of you will be surfing the ‘selfie’ wave, displaying the peacock tail feathers of a talent, social aptitude, skill or insight. Venus’ journey through Pisces and your 6th house – traditionally Virgo’s domain – is a further cosmic encouragement to scatter your goodwill for the benefit of others, especially in the cause of keeping the peace between any warring parties. Make the most of this peace-keeping trend to the 20th when the planet moves on into go-getting Aries.
October 23-November 22
Neptune – planet of fantasy, creativity, spirituality – transits your traditional self-expressive house, that of the Sun. Longing for romance, love, creative consummation, realisation of pleasure through things and people idealised (including one’s kids, if any) – well, this longing is intense. For a Scorpio, ‘intense’ can mean all-consuming. Neptune first ingressed Pisces (sign it rules) in 2011 – think back: since then, have you married, fallen in love, done something that you can honestly say, ‘Touched my soul’? Pisces New Moon on the 18th – valid for the next month or so – really does favour the start of any new creative or hobby project, holiday plan or other activity that (almost) obsesses. This may also be pertinent to a new romance, or deepening of a bond. This is a phase to let it all out.
November 23-December 21
On the 11th, Mercury moves direct again in your solar 3rd house. How this affects you personally – if at all – cannot be determined precisely. If, though, recent communications or dealings have been subject to delay or misunderstanding – or you’ve found yourself reviewing certain commitments after second thoughts – then in the weeks ahead there’s a raised likelihood of finding clarity and connection. If you identified the cause of a headache, chances are you’ll find a cure. This does require proactivity: no magic Mercury will undo confusion without effort. Pisces New Moon on the 18th brings home, family and personal security issues to the fore for the next month. In this phase, repairs, extensions, family outings or even a residential move may be seriously contemplated or undertaken. This is an ideal time to formulate plans which consolidate or grow your sense of security, whatever that maybe.
December 22-January 20
Mercury’s direct move from the 11th brings greater clarity to financial matters, and in the weeks ahead it will be a lot safer to firm up a deal, if applicable to you. If a recent money discussion lost its way through a mix-up or cross-purposes, it may be possible now to pick where you left off and reach a productive conclusion. Pisces New Moon in solar 3rd house on the 18th is important for communications, contacts with neighbours and people in ‘your’ world, how you think, and day-to-day bureaucracy (also siblings’ relationships, if any). Because this lunation begins dead on 0.00 degree, a great deal of your outer world contact will be supportive and compassionate: new contacts – and any new interest in ‘Neptunian’ topics such as mysticism, yoga or other related practices – are blessed.
January 21-February 19
Astrologically, the party continues with Sun in your sign (since January 20 to February 18). ‘Party’ in the sense of life refreshed; readiness for new challenge. The Sun radiates your natal strengths (and weaknesses): humanitarianism, campaigning, big-mindedness (and big-headedness at times), idealism, quirky originality (or perversity), social organisation. This is a good start for the Sun’s move into your chart house of income and assets on the 18th – as Pisces New Moon on this date occurs at 0.00 degree, any start-up or fresh financial initiative is blessed. The next four weeks or so may see a greater focus on income and outgoings, and on questions of how to build up worth in general. Neptune’s long-term presence here can bring some instability or uncertainty in material matters but denotes the potential for a change in your view of the importance of money. It certainly does not mean that all efforts to make more cash are doomed – quite the opposite in fact.
February 20-March 20
If the past three weeks since January 21 have left you feel somewhat out of the loop or lacking some crucial information, Mercury’s direct move from the 11th certainly helps you in the days and weeks ahead to gain a better understanding, if only via your famed intuition. The day will come when you’ll have a better factual grasp of matters that may be still concealed from you – from mid-March possibly when the planet ingresses the solar first house. Pisces New Moon on the 18th is the ‘start’ of your year as Sun enters Pisces, too. With New Moon occurring bang on debut 0.00 degree this really is a superb time to start something new, to unveil a new look (well, you have four weeks to work on it) or simply to follow a strong impulse to initiate a project. If the past four weeks were about internal reflection, the next four are about externals, arising from one’s dreams, ambitions, insights and talents.
