September 2014

Aries

Aries

March 21-April 20

Ooh – too much giving and selflessness so far this year! The lurch back to self-centredness starts with Pisces Full Moon on the 9th, relevant for the rest of the month. I don’t say you’ll do a Bowie and withdraw from the world amid a swirl of rumour, but a need to create more space to rest and think alone is recognised. Even if you’re not religious, you could be popping into a church for a half-hour meditation during lunch-breaks. Or, confidential information is entrusted to you. Treat this period as a re-build of moral sinew, in order to process recent life events and sift truths that may help you make better decisions in the future. Your ruler Mars moves into Sagittarius 9th house on September 13 (till October 26), and serves as a nicely active counterweight to the recent introspective Full Moon. Travel, study or new horizons grow much more attractive as a conduit out of the familiar and towards the more self-expressive. Career/work relationships enter a harmonious phase 14th-15th – or new work bonds started now will prove significant and enduring. The 21st, too, suggests greater harmony with bosses, authority or partner.

Taurus

Taurus

April 21-May 21

On the surface, early September looks not unlike August. Personal and family life remains a primary growth area under Jupiter. Your ruler Venus, since August 12, bestows potential for much domestic pleasure and improved bonds. Virgo Sun is bringing a sense of fun to life, or an enhanced need to express professional, hobbyist or romantic passions – and Venus’ arrival in Virgo on the 5th definitely puts you in the mood for (ahem, responsible and diligent) self-indulgence – why not shoot off on an early skiing hol in Austria’s Alps? Meanwhile, Mercury is about to feel at home in the 6th house, applying a hyper-critical or communicative mind to work and health situations. September is a month for thinking and talking through problems. Much more generally, the past has a disconcerting habit of popping up suddenly via old friends, former lovers or replicate situations under Uranus. Mars’ move into Sagittarius and 8th house on September 13 also accentuates sex life for many – a passionate adventurous time, potentially. Skiing could be cooling then!

Gemini

Gemini

May 22-June 21

You start the month full of your own ideas: on the 2nd your ruler Mercury ingresses Libra in 5th house of self-expression and pleasure. Ideas or plans that radiate a personal passion or promote self are more freely communicated – and Libra’s influence encourages you to work on useful contacts diplomatically. Make the most of this phase before Mercury moves on 27th. So, another good start to the month after what should have been a productive August. Central to thoughts could be your personal or material security, with Sun in Cancer’s natural home. Jupiter promises long-term expansion through education or communications or social world – a time to be bold – and you’ve the next year ahead, approximately, to make the most of this. From the 24th make the most of cosmic tides to start a project that’s expressive of a passion – anything from a book, a sport to a new liaison, a holiday. Usually, creativity is excited. You wish to display, and to generate, something from self. In the month’s final week, a new, unorthodox idea or social contact could be key to progress. Whatever you do, don’t think “establishment”.

Cancer

Cancer

Featured Horoscope – Cancer By Life Surfing Astrologer – Victor Olliver

June 22-July 22

According to lazy astro-caricature, Cancer is the “feeling” sign: all motherhood, milky teats and monstrous memory – all of which may be true, of course, but let’s not get carried away with this. Cancer is also perfectly capable of analytical thinking and dispassionate review: these are where Sun and Venus come in now. To be effective, action is best preceded by thought and planning and information gathering. Much of September sees you disseminating, educating, handling sundry matters via email or phone, asking questions, hanging out with mates. You’re modifying perspective. The need for practical thinking is repeated by Mars’ ingress into Sagittarius in Virgo’s house on the 13th (to October 26). At one level, work productivity rockets as immense energy is poured into tasks. Overdo it and you’ll get very tired if not unwell, so know when to rest. At another level, interest in your day-to-day life or work may intensify through an eventful change in this phase. Most interesting times for crabs.

Leo

Leo

July 23-August 23

On the 5th, Venus becomes super-charged when it enters Virgo and one of its natural houses, that of money and moveable assets, and stays there till 29th. Your ruler Sun is already here and exits 23rd. Potentially, in those 18 days when the two celestial bodies share the one house, this is an excellent combo for business dealings, value-growth, wage rises – or having a good time on your resources. Or, if money’s tight, ambition to cash-build intensifies; and opportunity may arrive to this end. Hard and detailed work is demanded, however. When Venus joins Sun on the 29th in its own sign of Libra, efforts at mediation or negotiation between any warring factions or persons are likely to be successful. Use this time to deploy charm and warmth as a means to an end. Jupiter is steadily working on expanding your scope of personal operation, triggering periodic opportunity to break out of any life “box”. 21st-30th could see a sudden chance to go abroad, study or make more of a moral, political or social cause you subscribe to.

Virgo

Virgo

August 24-September 22

Astrologically, this is your time of the year. Sun blazes in Virgo (to 23rd), bringing to greater life your particular critical and analytical intelligence, your vigilance, hard work, dedication to projects and sublime practicality. From the 5th, Venus joins Sun in your sign (and stays there till 29th). It’s sometimes said that fun-loving Venus doesn’t work so well with you “earnest” Virgins. Palpable nonsense. Charlie Sheen’s a Virgo, for heaven’s sake. The desire to have a good time, to beautify self, to hang out with friends can be as urgent in you as in any other star sign. Venus is also a cash and business planet – projects initiated by you are well-starred in this phase. Other people find you warmer and more cooperative now. And if a nip ‘n’ tuck is what you feel you need, go ahead. But avoid a trout pout. Libra New Moon on the 24th redoubles the financial theme for the month ahead – which is neither necessarily good nor bad. Financial planning is important. This is also a phase of special enjoyment – any activity that heightens tactile sense or inspires aesthetics will lift the spirit. The money topic also arises from the month’s most interesting aspect – Jupiter trine Uranus, 21st-30th. In this phase you may receive a sudden windfall or cash gift.

Libra

Libra

September 23-October 23

September is a time of continued independent action and self-starts. This is a crude generalisation, of course, yet the likelihood is you’re feeling less reliant on others to help form your views; more intent on finding your own way. Which must feel slightly odd because Libra is all about “other people” and partnership action. Are you in rebellion against your own social nature? Of course not. Ruler Venus in Leo in Aquarius’ natural house has been especially social, helping to form new connections to enable progress. Yet Leo will have added boldness to approaches, if not leadership – setting you apart from herd. Do you seek a crown in some way? During 14th-15th a private or secret partnership development can trigger a hugely beneficial domestic change. Your special time of the year starts on the 23rd when Sun enters Libra. Shortly to be joined by Libra’s very own Venus (on the 29th) this could prove to be an especially social, fun time – because you’re very much in the mood to party and see friends. A great many of you will be re-working personal image.

Scorpio

scorpio

October 23-November 22

Pisces Full Moon on the 9th, effective for the rest of September, highlights personal creativity – the natural instinct to express a passion, through your kids, a talent or hobby. Despite much collective action of late there’s also the desire to be appreciated as an individual, not just as a cog in someone else’s wheel. Around 9th-10th, however, highly romantic or idealistic notions could lead you to misjudge a situation, possibly in your social world, so avoid making decisions in this phase. Libra New Moon in Pisces’ natural house on the 24th really is a welcome opportunity to disengage for a while – in practice, this can be like traveling at 30mph as opposed to 50 (as opposed to booking yourself into rehab or a New Age spa hotel – though good ideas if you’ve the window and money). Recent times will have taken their toll physically and mentally, given the focus and intensity of interests and ferocity of Mars. Use this month ahead to reflect, review – and cherish a partnership. Do chillax, sweethearts. You won’t miss any of the action. That’s to come.

Sagittarius

Sagitarius

November 23-December 21

Career direction is uppermost in your thoughts and plans – this may manifest as actual opportunity to change job or promotion or activation of a job plan. Work life can feel a lot sweeter from the 5th when Venus joins Sun – most probably triggering a greater number of social opportunities and ease with co-workers and bosses: indeed, social capability in business environments may merit advancement. The 12th especially is a day for career progress. From 13th (to October 26) the texture of your personality alters, at first subtly perhaps, with Mars in Sagittarius. This is an important transit because it affects how you deal with the world. There will be a considerable hardening of your perspective in key situations, or an enhanced determination to have your way. You’ll feel energised, re-invigorated. You’re less likely to be hanging around waiting for others if a matter is in limbo. Full-scale rows are possible if you don’t leash the ego. Oh my! You’re turning into a monster – all right, a mini-monster.

Capricorn

Capricorn

December 22-January 20

You’re starting to think big, or bigger than usual, thanks in part to Sun in Sagittarius’ natural home. Since late last month, an instinct to diversify or break out of a routine – temporarily or permanently – will have intensified. In abstract, this is a phase when an idea or plan to extend your range – physically, intellectually, philosophically or professionally – begun between August 23 and September 23 stands a fair chance of realisation later. Education, foreign travel or law can be among the means; but what represents “growth” to you is completely subjective and may take any number of forms. 21st-30th could be a remarkably interesting period in your private period. Jupiter trine Uranus could signal an unexpected windfall or some other benefit linked to the home, a loved one and/or family. Or, you’re making a sudden domestic change which enables financial growth – or if not financial, then emotional. A time of big changes, then.

Aquarius

Aquarius

January 21-February 19

If it’s not your sex life that’s heating up, then any one of the following could be dominating thoughts to the 23rd with Sun in Scorpio’s old house: interest in mysticism/spirituality, investigation of any kind, financial gifts (such as legacy), loans, shared resources with a partner or someone else who shares your life. One means to greater self-control, or to power, is information. Scorpio loves to dig up the data. It is the “information” you seek, probably buried away in a mind, in a folder, or somewhere in the Great Unknown. One way to deepen an intimacy is to gain a greater understanding of the beloved – yes, information! This last thought is worth bearing in mind when on the 5th Venus joins Sun and stays in Virgo in traditional house of Scorpio to the 29th. For many this can be a torrid, sexy time – though as an Aquarian you could be doing that thing of yours of alternating emotional intensity with sudden bouts of dispiriting texting. During pillow talk, perhaps. Some people say you have a cold heart. No, you ain’t. It’s just you don’t like too much confining snuggly cosy stuff. You like to hang loose even when in love.

Pisces

Pisces

February 20-March 20

If August brought more than a few frustrations (but useful lessons), September is a more upbeat month for the Fishes. As early as 3rd-4th could find you making some shrewd decisions about certain people in your social network – perhaps who’s useful, who’s not – and advancing a personal dream or ideal as a result of obtaining a valuable piece of information. Then on the 5th, a super-charged Venus enters her traditional Libran home (in Virgo), heralding a phase (to the 29th) when progress through friends, specialist advisers or partner(s) is more likely than usual. Your mind is on negotiation, winning people over or – if you’re in the public eye – working your audience. Business can be built through deft alliances struck now. Affection and romance figure big-time in this phase. From the 13th, Mars in Sagittarius (to October 26) gives career or status a dynamic kick: your whole approach will be more direct, if not confrontational. But Mars square Neptune 21st-22nd is a reminder that willpower alone will not win you the accolades or appointments you desire. You could feel torn between genuine doubts and manufactured certainties. Do not try to conceal your sensitivity, imagination, humanity in the cause of self-promotion. Let others see what you’re made of.
