Glorious Goa

Well, after a whirlwind week and a bit so far in India, it was time for a break. I said goodbye to Mumbai and headed for one of my favourite R&R resorts, the wonderful Yab Yum on Ashwem beach, Mandrem, in Goa.

This glorious resort, owned and run by a couple of Brits, stands apart from every other beach side hut hotel in Goa. My accommodation was this fabulous “honey pod” over looking the sea and perfectly kitted out to accommodate even the fussiest of tourists (ie moi).

There is no nonsense here, no little bottles of shampoo and shower gel and there are polite requests to re-use your towels. Gladly! I love the little details inside the pods, designed especially for the resort – blue sheets (so much nicer than stained white ones usually found in such places), a torch to use in the evenings, and fabulous bathrooms  which we’d usually find a few frogs loitering in! They also offer to refill your bottle with filtered water, to help reduce plastic waste!

What a wonderful time we had, doing very little but sitting on the beach, and eating fabulous home cooked food, which was made mostly using veggies from their very own gardens. We drank signature cocktails (who doesn’t love a pina colada made with fresh pineapple juice?) and watched the most fabulous sunsets from the near enough private beach just in front of the resort.

Yours, basking in the sun,

Ms Tammam
