Our Valuable Contribution to Society

Swarovski and a Sparkling Night of Sustainable Luxury with Stella McCartney

Swarovski Crystal Collar

Swarovski, the heritage luxury crystal company responsible for adding sparkle to the world of fashion and film is leading the charge for a new age of transparent luxury looking to meet the challenges of climate change and consumerism through altruism and circular innovation.

One night in November at the Barbican, it was imagination and sustainable innovation that twinkled and sparkled just as much as the flights of fantasy conscious fashion works of art on display, embellished with thousands of bijou Swarovski crystals in all the colours of the kaleidoscope.

The Year of The Thoughtful, Intelligent Geek: An Interview with Colin Morgan

Colin Morgan - Merlin

Forget vampires! This is the year of the thoughtful, intelligent geek. The crown princeling amongst wizardly, out of this world, thespian geeks, has to be Colin Morgan, the coruscating young actor from Armagh, Northern Ireland, best known for his starring role in Merlin.

For it is Morgan who has read his Mallory and Tennyson and reinvented Merlin for a 21st Century audience not as a knarled, white-haired prophet of ancient myths and legend, but rather as a charming, gauche, accident-prone underdog who must wait until the time is right to reveal his magical powers.

Biodynamic Food, Wine and Travel Notes

Marco, the founder of Palazzo Tronconi

Serious organic foodies, pay attention. Do you delight in discovering best-kept secret places to stay, where authentic regional food and wine are the stars of your visit? Then, you will warm to Palazzo Tronconi, a jewel of a small hotel with just six bedrooms, each named after a local wine made at the hotel, together with the zeal to offer the discerning traveller the freshest, slow organic food and wine straight from the kitchen garden and the Palazzo’s own biodynamic vineyard.

The Six Female Stars in Sustainable Finance

Rongrong Huo, Executive Director, Head of Investment Institute at Investec Asset Management

What does it take to make it as woman trailblazing a global shift to sustainable finance and investing? Six female leaders share their advice for considering a career in the rising green economy.

You would have to have been asleep for the past five years if you don’t know that sustainable finance is creating a buzz from the boardroom to the corridors of government as more and more of us want to see our money, pensions, and investments create a serious social and environmental impact to avert climate breakdown and create fairer societies.

The Future of Fashion, Leonardo Di Caprio & The Genius of Circular Economy Reinvention

V & A Silk Waiscoat displayed at the 2018 Fashioned from Nature exhibit.a

Reader, What does the future of fashion look like now that climate change is finally being treated as a threat to life on earth? Can you imagine a world where there is no intoxicating, beguiling nature left to plunder, adorn and inspire our collective, never-ending appetite for new clothes?

In this long-form feature and filmed V&A documentary interview, I examine fashion’s dirty past and the ingenious, state of the art, circular and sustainable fashion and textile innovations which have the power to transform the fashion industry if we act decisively and collectively now.

Invest in Mata Traders FairTrade Fashion Revolution!

The fashion industry has hit the headlines many ties recently because of its complex supply chain and lack of traceability. Not all clothing brands put morals before margins, but Mata Traders is one Fairtrade, sustainable fashion brand determined to put ethics first.

Working with member-owned women’s co-operatives and artisan groups that follow fair trade principles, Mata Traders has been a Shared Interest customer since 2010.

Gordon Buchanan, The Indiana Jones of Wildlife Presenters Talks About That Very Close Encounter with a Polar Bear

If Sir David Attenborough is the Professor Dumbledore of wildlife television, presiding over sweeping, scholarly masterpieces about the marvels of nature from the Blue Planet to Frozen Planet – then Gordon Buchanan must surely be its freewheeling Indiana Jones.

With Attenborough’s blessing, Gordon is the new kid on the block. The craggy Scot, who gets up close and personal with dangerously charismatic polar bears, tigers and snow leopards, and isn’t too manly to cry on camera.

The Organic Bakery that Inspired Our Editor and Founder’s Passion for Organic Food

The magazine is inspired by our journalist founder, Alison Jane’s life-long passion for organic and biodynamic regenerative agriculture. AJ became organic during her time at Bangor Uni, thanks to an amazing higgeldy piggeldy organic bakery that was just like Hogwarts. It’s all thanks to delicious sourdough bread and sublimely sticky organic Chelsea buns marbled with cinnamon!

AJ is a leading British journalist, organic and sustainable expert, and storyteller for iconic global brands. AJ spent a decade at the Times as a contributing feature writer and fashion editor. She has interviewed everyone from David Attenborough to Keira Knightley to Iman, Karl Largerfeld and the Stars of Downton Abbey. She was the first leading UK journalist to write about and champion sustainable fashion for You Magazine with an interview with Sienna Miller, who told the world to buy People Tree organic cotton knickers. AJ also created an influential upcycled fashion feature at a waste recycling centre with Bono’s wife Alison Hewson and the daughter’s of Brit rock n roll royalty. The year was 2005 – way before the rest of the media began to talk about sustainable fashion.

Napoleon Bonaparte once declared, “Imagination rules the world.” To that, I would add that storytelling makes the world go round, and together with my talented team we are in the business of writing and creating extraordinary stories in print, video, film and social media campaigns focused on organic and sustainable ideas and the unfolding green-age revolution. A new age where organic, circular economy, Fairtrade, Made in Britain, country of origin and sustainable luxury brands rule the roost and become mainstream!
