March 21-April 20
Well, it’s all go! Not exactly everything is going as you hoped, but this process is called ‘trial and error’. Ruler Mars is quite happy to expand one life area as part of your future investment – your range of social and business contacts. Push, push, push. Experiment, play with, be prepared for the odd knock-back: but also be confident that this is a time of transition when things that appear to be collapsing are in fact re-orienting themselves as part of a larger need to survive. The new moon on the 9th is a significant moment to start afresh in one association provided you can live with some suspected unknowables and possible power tussles with a boss or other authority. This new moon dominates much of the rest of the month, so keep the social diary primed for many more entries. Practice that smile.
April 21-May 21
Love, friendship, relationships with key people such as agent, artisans, lawyers etc: yes, this is the life area that preoccupies you as ruler Venus spends much of this month appearing to reverse through Scorpio. Retrogrades tend to panic people who know little about astrology so here’s what gives in reality: certain key relationships may very well be being tested, and who’s the tester? You. A retrograde is in fact an optical illusion due to Earth’s perspective, so the thing to watch for is ‘appearance’ and what lies underneath a situation – Venus is in delving Scorpio. Aim not be fobbed off by promises or assurances. Find out for yourself what’s doable. Better to get things on a realistic footing. If you stay sharp, no one can trip you up.
May 22-June 21
Daily work is taking up more than its fair share of your thinking as you wonder who or what can be regarded as sturdy and likely to survive the coming rigours of Brexit/robots/asteroid collision/Trump/Any other fear of personal choice. The world suddenly seems less reliable to you, one or two things have fallen away in recent times. But remember: lucky Jupiter is slowly approaching a key chart cusp (next month it makes it) which brings better fortune from the company you keep – what’s seriously missing in your life are ‘fortunate’ people whose magic can help you too by association. Very much in your favour is Venus’ link to Neptune in your career house: this boosts creative or caring energies, and work in areas where art and/or taking responsibility for others is/are paramount. If you think more of the worth you do and less of the ego, you’ll find gentle progress offsets anything that looks like a setback. It isn’t.
June 22-July 22
It’s really down to you to get things done, if only because in recent times, quite a few people have stood in your way or appeared to want to frustrate your intentions. The extent to which you’ve applied flexibility will decide how painful these encounters may have been – if you’ve tackled bosses/partners/friends etc in a pig-headed way, then that’s why you’re feeling doomy. Away from all this, the astro omens are excellent for all the things you wish to do in your own right, for your own good. New moon on the 9th is especially lovely for domestic life, and the Venus retrograde will greatly sweeten social and creative pursuits, helping you to forget dreary people who are forever saying No. Jupiter is also boosting personal passions – and since the planet’s about to move signs (in November), expect a possible major development in any project being done in your name this month. This could be anything, starting with a hobby.
July 23-August 23
Something of the interior decorator comes to the fore in October as you discover you have more time to beautify or improve your home, prior to the Atlantic storms that start out as hurricanes somewhere near Florida. Actually, I have no idea what this winter will be like (an abundance of red berries in the garden suggests a hard one to come) but the season to make things gorgeous again infuses your thoughts – if it’s not the balustrades that need refashioning, then maybe it’s the love bonds with family that need nurturing. This is likely to be quite an emotional time, your heart is worn more on the sleeve, and this helps in communication with tricky people. Let them see you have a pulse. On the work front, bend with inevitable changes. You don’t much care for sudden interruptions. Well, get used to them. They won’t hurt.
August 24-September 22
The quiet before the ‘storm’! You have been relatively silent of late, either because of calculated reticence or problems with social communications. That’s due to end when ruler Mercury enters the domain of words on the 10th – and probably quite explosively because wild Uranus sits opposite, stirring up the world in which you find yourself and triggering all sorts of exciting reactions in you and others. For the rest of October make the most of coming opportunities to say your piece, put the record straight, sell ice lollies to Inuits – just about anything that draws on your natural-born gift to communicate (written or spoken). New moon on the 9th will prove financially encouraging provided you’re ready for toil and a degree of ego display: it will be crucial to demonstrate your readiness to help others. I don’t know why exactly. Write and tell me later.
September 23-October 23
Someone loves you upstairs, but who could that be?! Ruler Venus is stuck fast in your house of financial resources this month – and is this a bad thing necessarily? Let me put it this way: on the one hand, October is telling you to put it out there, make your mark, launch an initiative, tell someone what’s what; on the other hand, Venus is granting extra time to put cash and income on a more secure footing – helped by the planet’s position in Scorpio, sign of research, shared resources and borrowings. So, if you are unsure of a business infrastructure or revenue stream, thank whatever you believe in (Oh thank you Madame Scientologist!) for the extra time to consider quite big questions about material realities. Clues: pursue work that helps others in a very purposeful way. And use the new moon on the 9th – valid for a fortnight – to place yourself at the forefront of something. Will people think you a bighead? Probably – but who cares?
October 23-November 22
Oh yes, more of the same please. Whatever’s going on in your life, don’t delay in taking time out to pamper and self-pleasure (please, titter ye not). This is not just about Botox or dermabrasion. What I am suggesting is that the action of heaping joy on your person will attract to you very useful energies from others, may be because they are drawn to your evident self-love and sounds of ecstasy. Just about any life department can benefit from this curious alchemy where selfishness turns into opportunity. Not that you need to be mean; just a lot more self-oriented. And that’s it really.
November 23-December 21
On the surface of life, there’s much social activity – definitely a pick-up. But inner life continues to preoccupy, especially now ruler Jupiter is coming towards the end of its introverted phase, and in November re-emerges in Sagittarius! Meantime, inclinations to self-analysis, or the going over past events, intensify in Jupiter’s final fling of navel-gazing. This may not be easy, but you sense that the life tide’s turning, and this instinctive awareness alone is bolstering. New moon on the 9th, staying potent for two weeks thereafter, will raise up financial issues – you could be making one or two hard decisions about outgoings or lifestyle. It’s time to face a few facts and not try to hide away. Do this and you’re preparing yourself for a major re-launch next month. I bet you can’t wait.
December 22-January 20
Are you perchance your own worst enemy at times? No, don’t answer that. Questions of that sort are not really questions. They’re disguised statements. In October, do not take certain questions at face value – these may arise in your career area especially. Someone may wish to trick you into saying something left unsaid. Even villains have a kind of honour: they need to hear or see you do something unpolitic to justify to themselves a subsequent action. So, don’t answer or do engage in some playful sword-play. Do not take your enemies on in a straight fight. You can win by being a touch devious or just not too obvious. Be elliptical. This is a challenge because Cappies are so direct at times, so ethical (but not so hedonistic). Despite all this, efforts to improve income pay off, especially after new moon on the 9th.
January 21-February 19
People-skills will be key to progress in your career or public duty roles – aided by Venus reversing at the top of your chart. By all means go a little beyond your pay grade in winning people round and charming the socks (or whatever) off them; a Venus going backwards may be pleasantly receptive to that extra drink or wink, doing things not by the book but by personal dynamics. You have only to read a memoir by a clapped-out politician to learn just how much preferment is lubricated by booze, shared hobbies, sex or just chemistry. The trajectory of life favours break-outs from routines or expectations, and certainly don’t hold back if you have a cause worth fighting for in the courts. If it’s not a legal setting that’s refreshing your sense of adventure, then it could be a holiday or a new study.
February 20-March 20
What strange company you’re keeping. Do give them my phone number. The truth is, you’re inclined to hang out with weirdos at the best of times. But recently you’ve excelled yourself – largely because of a need to test your social tolerance and be tickled by eccentricity or peculiarity. To this end, life is placing you in situations quite new to you – and it’s a matter of personal choice where you go from here. New moon on the 9th clarifies one thing: this is a time of inner change, reflected in the new people all around you. It’s a kind of outer dramatization of soul business. On a more mundane level, there could be a turning point in a financial matter (perhaps a long-standing bill is settled) or even a partnership. You seek greater freedom of action, even if it’s only a touch theoretical. Do not under-estimate the power of even the smallest changes now: they’re not accidental; they could prove definitive.
