Aries

Aries

March 21-April 20

Late in August, something happened in the sky that dominates your September. Put simply, you’re regaining your horn (of plenty). Ruler Mars moved direct after many weeks in retrograde, enabling you to pick up where you left off back in May of this year when events led to the realisation that certain people or groups could not be relied on for support. Life’s about timing, and in the fourth week, allies (perhaps ones gained in recent weeks) come to your aid as you push for dominance within an organisation or for a status hike. Full moon on the 25th brings one situation to a head, and those plentiful horns of the Ram could clash with authority or the status quo. Ready to do battle?

Taurus

Taurus

April 21-May 21

If you’ve read about wild Uranus now in Taurus (for years to come), and you’re wondering when you start to feel the planets effects (sudden excitations, etc), then look forward to September when a variety of happenings will at least enliven things up to December. This is because ruler Venus enters Scorpio, then reverses in October, thereby drawing out matters to do with relationships, partnerships, friends and even people you tend to clash with. Feelings could run high, and you’ll be in little mood to put up with nonsense, especially in career matters. An important personal plan is the most likely bone of contention and expect unexpected developments or opposition, especially around mid-month. Stick to your guns.

Gemini

Gemini

May 22-June 21

Of late you’ve felt like those poor little creatures stuck in amber, unable to manoeuvre much or at all against circumstances. Mars’ reversal will have hit you hard, but you start September with the planet in the house it’s associated with (the 8th), so the amber is starting to crack and fall away. Bit by bit you’ll find the ways and means to progress out of a difficult situation before acceleration from the 11th. Even then, financial or emotional realities cannot simply be ignored away, but at least you’re feeling freer. The time around the 16th is especially cheering as a work development brings a domestic benefit. Remember that this remains a ‘transformative’ time for you when every challenge is an opportunity to grow or break free.

Cancer

Cancer

June 22-July 22

One way to remove an obstruction is to blow it up. However, in these enlightened times, it’s best to find a more humane (and legal) way to remove great big lumps. Certain people are simply standing in your way with Saturn sitting opposite your sign. This could be anyone or thing from a local authority to your boss, or a partner who is trying to lay down the law. Now, not all obstructions are bad. Some stop us from doing daft things. Consider this option of seeing things as you look for gelignite. Days around the 12th of the month are the best for negotiation and sweet talking if you’re trying to win someone around. The new moon on the 25th, effective for a fortnight, does look like some kind of showdown with an authority figure, however. If you’ve sought compromise or negotiation, this lunar event shouldn’t hit you too hard, or at all.

Leo

Leo

July 23-August 23

Practical thinking will have eased your way in September, and hopefully with a financial reward of some kind. Hard, focused work is involved requiring a degree of inventiveness or independence on your part. But still ‘blighting’ your chart is that long Mars retrograde which started weeks back has come to an end, but is bringing the planet back to the place where disputes are most likely if you’re too pushy. Hopefully, you’ve learned a few lessons; and if you have a better idea when to pull a rein or let it go slack (likewise with your tongue), then any argument will at least prove creative if not useful: after all, some of the best things in life come via friction, if you get my meaning.

Virgo

Virgo

August 24-September 22

Last month you were in purdah. This month, hello again! From the 6th, ruler Mercury occupies Virgo for a fortnight, so make the most of this to apply that critical mind to plans, letters and anything else that may conceal pitfalls. The days around mid-month are especially demanding on your mind and communication skills, but because Virgo is blessed in this period (if you’re unapologetic about your natal gift to nit-pick and moan) you have a head start to make progress through appraisals. The new moon in Virgo on the 9th is highly useful to bring major projects to completion or some other kind of climax – make the most of this influence till the end of the month approximately. Be especially wary of imprecise people or those attempting to create a mystery: they could be up to no good.

Libra

September 23-October 23

Ruler Venus is going to keep you sooo busy in the next three-plus months as the planet enters shrewd and wily Scorpio on the 9th, goes retrograde in October, and stays in Scorpio until early January 2019 (with a brief return to Libra before then). This offers you a major opportunity to advance a business or financial plan, especially one that represents your personality or personal interests, and to fine-tune your image after perhaps one or two experiments in outlandishness. Scorpio is one of the signs of money, so don’t be too taken aback by the number of pecuniary matters that arise for your consideration – borrowings, gifts, debt (if any), partner’s contributions, mortgages; that sort of thing. Recent problems at home may not be entirely resolved, but with Mars now roaring direct, you’re more empowered to bend people to your will or at least to take steps that express your desires. This is not a time to allow the dreary to get in one’s way, darling. Steel caps on shoes at the ready….

Scorpio

October 23-November 22

Are you ready for a spiritual overhaul? No? Oh well…. This is the thing. Venus is hitting your sign this month and continues to hit it till early January 2019. In one sense this is huge fun because Venus tends to amp up the parties and social circles while magnifying the image and any needed repairs. But because Venus is still attached to the chart house of spirituality and navel-gazing, life events are conspiring to persuade you that what you say to others, how you look to others, should be a true reflection of what’s going in your heart. There may also be the need to balance self-feeding activity with paying attention to someone who requires your care or kisses. This is the true spirit of ethical hedonism, and may I remind of the title of this magazine. That’s right…

Sagittarius

Sagitarius

November 23-December 21

Plans to capitalise on work or a new project should be ongoing after a period of setbacks or frustration. You have at least more pizzazz, more courage now, as Mars is moving forward. With Uranus long-term in your chart house of health and work, this area will be the most demanding and potentially inspiring, as you respond so much more to inner prompts and the limits of wellbeing. You are less likely to burn the fuse both ends because life keeps reminding you of what happens if you pretend you don’t need sleep or your X (five, eight?) portions of fruit and veg in your daily diet. An improvement in status, or a promotion of any kind, is entirely possible around mid-month, as Mercury boosts ruler Jupiter. An idea could be your passport to something really good.

Capricorn

Capricorn

December 22-January 20

Though traditionally Capricorn is not described as an overly social sign, this is all a load of nonsense. You’re as capable of letting your hair extensions down as the next party tart; and for the lighter side of life, make the most of September, October, November, December and early January 2019. May be because of work demands, or simply because of fresh breath, many more people want you around them – not just at dos, but at conferences, cultural events, afternoon teas; any place where people congregate to converse and size up the opportunities if not the talent. This is all thanks to Venus near the top of your chart house spending an inordinate amount of time in Scorpio. Naturally, you’ll use these social occasions to advance yourself. Just get on with it.

Aquarius

Aquarius

January 21-February 19

Foaming at the mouth, are we? Giving people tinnitus with your incessant barking? Causing injury as you barge people out of the way? Oh good, you’re being typical of your sign then as Mars is now moving forward and back into Aquarius and causing all sorts of aggressive reflexes. Who can blame you? Recent months have asked you to tone it down a bit, to scale back the ambition – and more particularly, to discourage a tendency to boast or brag. How frustrating! That was then. Now in September the force is with you; and while you can look forward to further attempts to contain you, energy levels will push you on regardless. You’ve got your mojo back – without which you wilt like an old lettuce leaf in a Caesar Salad.

Pisces

Pisces

February 20-March 20

Up the 11th, make the most of any opportunity to forge useful links within a group or the like-minded. After that date, the mood changes as Mars enters the chart house associated with Pisces. In this place, one’s willpower is not lessened but requires a different approach. Broadly speaking, life gets a lot more complicated as you have to consider a number of factors, not just your own interests. Balancing all these is the challenge. If this sounds faintly dull, then take heart from the social life which, under Venus, becomes decidedly more interesting, and not just in September. For the rest of the year, the weird and the wonderful will make themselves known to you, and what you do with them is not for me to speculate on. If you’re a saint and a sinner, then the rest of 2018 looks hugely…interesting.
