Horoscope by Victor Olliver
March 21-April 20
If the month starts a trifle stormily, with you at odds against unpredictable or just awkward people, then don’t just blame your horoscope. Ask yourself if you are over-reacting to something said or to a set of circumstances against your liking. A lot of bother can be avoided by a more measured response, though Arians do like a fight. Perhaps one of the issues is the scale of a plan – you’re thinking big, and the Mercury retrograde through this month, turning direct just before Christmas, is the cosmos offering you a festive gift: time. Time to re-appraise, to get real; to see the wood for the trees. Maybe the people thinking in modest terms should at least be listened to and not loftily dismissed. Venus is drawing you to adventure, to people off your beaten track – this sets the tone of 2018 in all likelihood: of new frontiers to press against. The festive period sees you loving, joyful and…open to persuasion. Steady now.
April 21-May 21
What fun to blow hot and cold. Up to Christmas, you are the human equivalent of a volcanic eruption (or at least an Icelandic hot spring bath), tending to bathe partner/lover/whatever in affection and intimacy. How this gets expressed depends on your circumstances: for some, it’s the cuddle pillow or pussy cat that will get loved up, and so each to her/his own. More likely, in any kind of bond, you are going out of your way to make something so; relegating your own needs for the sake of peace or productivity. This is most convivial in the build up to Christmas. Oh. But then your ruler Venus enters Capricorn on 25 December. This is when you start to blow cold. Not necessarily like aircon on the blink, more like you step back and ask yourself what’s in ‘it’ for you – ‘it’ being any kind of relationship that you have fought hard of late to improve. Your mind is turning towards other interests, perhaps overseas or even study, in the hope of expanding your horizons. People will find you enticing and most discombobulating. 2018 looks most…unpredictable.
May 22-June 21
If many of the people in your life had but one neck, you’d probably slice it through. That’s to paraphrase Caligula whose axe was forever sharp as was his tongue. Now, you don’t want to model yourself on a crazed Roman emperor, do you? Look how he ended up. Get the DVD set of ‘I, Claudius’ for Xmas and find out. Ruler Mercury this month moves backwards and forwards in the chart area that has to do with close relationships and open enemies. In other words, certain people in your circle may deserve a second chance, but not all. With judgmental Saturn there too, no wonder you are in a severe mood. This won’t feel the most festive of seasons, yet the best thing you can do is make the most of the people you trust and cleanly part company with those who are not on your side. Wave them off and wish them well. What more can you do? And the point of all this? To enable a new door to open in 2018. A social clearance was long in the coming: think of the ‘friends’ who’ve fallen away in recent times. Now is the time to embrace a new world to come. With a new cast of supporters!
June 22-July 22
Darling, set aside your cares and listen up. The moment has come to look in the mirror and see what needs re-upholstering. Not just your appearance. Inside, too. You can get patches now which extract ‘poisons’ from your body overnight: that’s a Christmas prezzie idea, to the self. It’s time to renew the You. Two lunar events this month point to this: Full Moon on the 3rd asks you to complete something pronto so that you can rest and take time out. I can recommend a lovely luxury spa in Israel – see my website below and email me. Then on the 18th, New Moon marks launch time for a new diet and/or health/exercise regimen. This is the time to resolve to get healthier: don’t wait till New Year. The cosmic hint is that December is your preparation time for a super social relaunch in early 2018. You need to look your best, not creaking about with hair protruding from where it does not belong. Ask loved ones to think of your health and beauty this festive time. Muscles become taut and tight/Ships launched by your wondrous sight.
July 23-August 23
It’s not the time of Leo, traditionally mid-summer, yet in the solar chart it really is as Sun, Mercury, Venus and Saturn zoom through the house that’s ruled by Leo energy. Ebullience is a feature of this combination, marked by a serious dedication to fun or creativity or even to making the most of time with one’s kids. Leo is the sign of heart’s desire, passion and creative explosion. Ruler Sun itself is one vast series of explosions. So whatever you’re up to, you’re determined to take it to its nth degree and make the most of life. The home is most probably one of the beneficiaries of this energy with expansive Jupiter tending to maximise potential in all family/property situations, favourably if you play your cards right. From the 9th, you’re in the driving seat to ensure domestic festive plans get done. You’ll be impatient with party-poopers, imperious if ignored, Santa-like to loved ones and a fount of great ideas at work and at home. Heavens! Insufferable!
August 24-September 22
A big decision to be made about the home, the family or personal/clan finances. It’s probably more than just about festive gifts or where to place Aunt Edina at the Xmas lunch table. With Mercury passing back and forth over Saturn, the issue in hand is likely to do with a practical matter and one that requires a measured and realistic response. For much of this month you’d do well to think carefully about options and then make a decision in the New Year. Get the decision right and you could be rewarded handsomely. Rush it, and you may lose. So take the time you’re given to discuss, listen and evaluate. Socially this is a very lively month, especially in your neighbourhood or those you keep close. You’ll be quite bold in your thoughts and words so expect the odd collision over a glass of punch. But certainly a good time to say what others cannot bring themselves to say provided you choose your words correctly.
September 23-October 23
The preoccupation with money/income/assets continues, even as extravagant Venus leaves the money house. Lucky Jupiter, which promises growth in value if you stay realistic, is set to dominate material affairs well into 2018, and is joined by Mars from the 9th. This planet hardens your resolve not to be short-changed, to pursue opportunity with greater zeal but also to get into kerfuffles – perhaps over online purchases or with crafty business types. How you experience Jupiter’s munificence will vary according to personal circumstances, but certainly this Christmas should be easier on the purse and wallet if only because your life is tending to make the most of what you’ve got, with the likelihood of more lolly to come in 2018. Mind-planet Mercury helps you to navigate a sensible course in any kind of plan or project, but be prepared for some delays and obstacles – which could just simply be the three-week lockdown we call Christmas. By New Year, you have a better sense of direction over a number of matters, including financial. Ker-chingle bells!
October 23-November 22
Everyone will want to be the kid that sits on your Santa’s knee, as a rare mood of excessive generosity possesses you. Pity your bank manager (a robot these days)! What on earth has got into you? Venus, in short. Venus is not just the planet of love but also of money. And when she finds herself in the house of money, she tends to give things away if she’s not careful. This mood won’t last. As we head towards the end of this month, reality will hit you and you’ll tighten the purse-strings. Alternatively, you could be highly self-indulgent, your own worst Santa, buying the latest iPhone or drone toy for no good reason except to annoy passers-by or give civil aviation a heart attack. The main message is beware buyer’s remorse. Curb excessive spending – certainly Saturn’s final last days in house of finances will ensure that you’ll feel the effects of over-spending, especially just before Christmas. Remember, Jupiter is still on your side, in your sign until well into 2018, so focus on the big project of life-enrichment through experience and reaching out to others – not on petty materialistic distractions.
November 23-December 21
While philosophical or spiritual interests are growing nicely under ruler Jupiter, introducing subtle changes in life direction and attitude (and through 2018), it would be a mistake to think that you are not without a sense of PR or appearance. Venus’ arrival in your sign from the start of month draws your attention to how you look to the world and also to warming up the aura. If you’ve been a wretched misery-guts in recent times, whining on about your awful childhood or whatever, companions will be surprised to find you in amiable if not more joyful mode through much of December, more ready to join in. Some of you will invest in a makeover, cosmetic surgery or a hair re-creation to rid the world of the impression that in 2017 you got a one-way ticket to a mountain retreat and let your fingernails grow. Mercury’s toing and froing in Sagittarius extends this period of beautification and also includes personal plans which may have come unstuck of late: there’s a little time yet to consider what’s in your best interests. Yes, this time is about you.
December 22-January 20
It’s breakout month for you after quite a long phase hidden away, if not physically then psychologically. Christmas itself is the day to mark in your diary for a change in internal weather as Venus finally pops into your sign and triggers a new phase of working on a new social you. This process won’t be clean-cut. With the Mercury retrograde dominating December in chart house of the past and hidden thoughts, you will be full of the sense of something stirring in your life, but perhaps you’re unsure what this is precisely. The best advice is to hold your horses and actually allow yourself to take life’s lead for a change. See what happens before you act. Don’t be too keen to initiate at this time. January 2018 is really the time when there’s a sense of take-off after a period of restriction. Jupiter is ensuring that no matter your life situation, you’re primed to meet more people who can work with you, not against you.
January 21-February 19
Career remains blessed by Jupiter – and this happy omen stays with you for much of 2018, so don’t think you must do everything at once in the furtherance of your glory. Venus this month and much of next is also helping you to meet the right people who can be useful to you – and for drawing you into social events where your lovely persona can do much to activate constructive responses in the informal sense. You don’t have to sleep your way to the top; you can do a lot better and use humour, insight and a sense of fun to win over suits and others who think they run the show. With ruler Uranus still in the chart house of words, the more you express the true idiosyncratic you, the more you gain. December could be a month when you part company with any person or organisation that’s irked you of late: Mercury on Saturn asks you to be selective and even a bit judgemental, or choosy, about people you hang out with in business or any kind of campaigning. If Santa can’t fulfil a wish…well, kick the bearded one up the butt.
February 20-March 20
Whoever said Pisces were hide-away people didn’t know what they’re talking about. December is a party month and not just because it’s Christmas. Parties will be queuing up to invite you. And you’ll be in the mood to mix business with pleasure with emphasis on the latter – this remains true well into January 2018. What you may find is that work takes you into social situations and you’ll thrive. Many of you will need to make an important career decision this month, either about direction or over a work project. Mercury’s dance over Saturn at the top of your chart suggests some serious analysis of your prospects, and don’t imagine this desists because the reindeer are on the way. Christmas is often a moment when you are afforded time to give greater thought to life. And in your case, a practical assessment of career could lead to long-term consequences in 2018. Play a long game, not one of instant thrills. How exciting!
