Ethical Hedonist astrology
Horoscope by Victor Olliver
March 21-April 20
Early days of the month see you in your prime as you sweep all against you out of the way and into waste disposal; hopefully not literally. Your power areas are workplace, career direction and the day-to-day routines. It’s in this phase that you can accomplish major changes. Thereafter is another story, and for the most of October you are advised to be cool, collected and not play the too-dominant part. Other people simply won’t see eye-to-eye with you and may try to trip you up. But if you behave yourself up to the fourth week, cosmic energies alter back in your favour and this time you can (without a lot of effort) make the most of a promising relationship, a thing of value (such as a house) or win the favour of a bank or rich maiden aunt/sugar daddy-mummy (or equivalent). Be nice.
April 21-May 21
The emphasis has been on fun – even if life is hell, your mind’s found refuge in fantasy, shopping catalogues and old movies. Thank goodness for one’s imagination! Some of you may have even started a relationship, for Venus up to mid-October favours romance and more. Then your ruler (Venus) passes into Libra which gives you an advantage since it strengthens your capacity to make the most of friends, colleagues, money and social curiosity, which you have in abundance now. This you will become much more aware of towards the end of the month when the Sun merges with Jupiter in the house of Libra and in the sign of Scorpio: new people, lovers, agents, colleagues – all these tribes await if you want them. Form an orderly queue!
May 22-June 21
The month starts in a pretty bright frame of mind: ruler Mercury is still in Libra and in the house of passions, which may sound hot but is a lot more to do with the greater urge to do what truly interests you. So certain boring activities may be abandoned at this time much to the chagrin of certain others. Mercury’s move into Scorpio mid-month is most interesting because there it soon joins Jupiter (as does the Sun on the 26th) – for you this is exceptionally favourable for your work: expect an expansion of responsibilities or scope as October approaches its end. Even if not all things are completed this month, you’ll find yourself on another progressive track – provided you work hard and remain an exemplar of ethical hedonism.
June 22-July 22
The last year has been dominated by domestic or family matters and responsibilities, and while there’s no guarantee this phase ends this month, certainly the mood music alters. This is because on the 10th, Jupiter (planet of opportunity and expansion) moves out of your chart house of the home and into Scorpio and the house of personal passion and creativity. And there it stays for a year or so. Gradually bit by bit you’ll be making a greater priority of those things that help express what you are about – this can include one’s children, hobbies, talents, sex life etc. From the 22nd, when Mars enters your house of home, you will become more decisive about matters that have hung over you, perhaps in limbo state – the impetus to cut away what is superfluous or obstructive intensifies. You are preparing yourself for a happier ‘selfish’ time.
July 23-August 23
That’s right, read everything, follow the news, read all emails – under Sun and Mercury in the solar house of Gemini, you’re in the mood to absorb, learn, analyse. How empowering is knowledge! This is something you’ll re-appreciate in October as you get the better of events that require you to be on top of the detail. From the 10th, a new phase opens up that could see a home move sometime in the next twelve months, or major refurbishment and/or additions to the clan. Your mind will turn to personal security and the practical value of assets, as if you’re doing a life audit to assess what can or can’t be done. What are you plotting? The 18th and 26th are key dates when events or decisions work to your benefit, and the home or family benefit, too.
August 24-September 22
Money is a major theme with you as October opens up – what you earn, value for money, etc. One issue could be: are you priced right? Is the return equal to what you’re worth? In the early days, you could be reaching a negative conclusion and struggling with financial limits. Worth noting are the days around the 12th, however, when Mercury’s sextile to Saturn suggests a shrewd move on your part related to the domestic sphere. Look out for an opportunity to enhance or sell and make a profit. Jupiter’s transit into Scorpio and one of the houses of Mercury on the 10th (lasting one year) very much benefits you, for this augurs a phase of improved communications – splendid if you write, speak, sell or teach for a living. As early as this month, you’ll see an opportunity to get your message across which raises your game and status.
September 23-October 23
With mind/communication planet Mercury in Libra for the first half of this month, how can you fail to get across the special, diplomatic enchantment you possess to others? Certainly the skies are on your side, though around the 8th/9th, you may encounter some sort of domestic objections or power issues: the ‘softly softly’ approach is advised to avoid a full-blown row. In the broader sense, Jupiter’s ingress of Scorpio from the 10th – a transit lasting about a year – brings a powerfully beneficial energy to finances, to income and investment especially. While Jupiter has its problems, largely about self-estimation and proportionality (“stay real” is a good maxim), it wants things to grow, so work/business initiatives in this phase have a lot going for them. This month watch the 18th and 26th for some monetary magic trees. A forest of filthy lucre? Perhaps not, but something favourable lurks in the undergrowth.
October 23-November 22
Known to be secretive, this trait is most apparent as October kicks off. A development behind closed doors or behind a veil of sorts preoccupies you. And if not, then you are inclined to stay in life’s shadows as you observe, plot and plan. The big news for you is Jupiter’s move into your sign on the 10th, a transit that will help re-shape your life over the next twelve months. Jupiter will encourage you to think a lot bigger, to get out there and show the world what you’re about, as well as bring opportunity to take another step up from where you are – whether this is to do with work, relationships, social life or even appearance/image. Co-ruler Mars’ entry into Libra on the 22nd signals the need to play cards close to your chest and keep your own counsel as you pursue your interests – certainly between now and early December.
November 23-December 21
This ought to be a highly progressive time for business and networking, but Uranus’ on-off opposition to your ruler Jupiter since late 2016 may have shaken a few of you if you’ve struggled with life changes or with any kind of major change in relationships. You want to go in one direction but life has other ideas. Never mind! When in doubt, go with the flow. Jupiter enters the most soulful part of the chart from the 10th and this really is self-empowering over the next year or so: get used to the idea of spending more time on you, either in self-analysis or in spoiling yourself in spas or sanctuaries or séances. The point is, there’s a need to make some inner repairs on the psyche, to exorcise the past and liberate yourself from anything/one that holds you back. Welcome to the spirit gym. Get a six-pack soul.
December 22-January 20
So much inner evolution is taking place that it’s hard to know where to start. But if you wonder why this is so astrologically, then it is because ruler Saturn still is to be found in the 12th house of the chart, the realm of Pisces and of contemplation, restriction and also of release. Life, gently or not, aims to detach you from matters that weigh you down…and the action is to be found at the top of your chart where Jupiter is bringing its blessings to career development. From the 10th, it moves into the chart sector that urges you to branch out once again over the next year, reach out to like-minds, either to further business or promote your ethical or political concerns. Jupiter wants to link you up with people or groups who can help you. From the 22nd, Mars is in your career house till early December – in this time you’ll put muscle into your work and interests, and you’ll find that cooperating with (and not fighting) others is the best means to an end.
January 21-February 19
Life could feel a bit speedy at the moment, lots of things on the go, and you’re not quite sure of direction. Jupiter is opposing your co-ruler Uranus while your other co-ruler (Saturn) is bringing a stern eye to those who want to work with you – are certain people up to your exacting standards? Change for change sake is no good yet abiding by the slow tick-tock of Jupiter, rooted in purpose(!), is driving you a little nuts – no wonder many of you are thinking that living abroad or taking a long holiday is the answer. Who knows, maybe it is. Meanwhile, back to reality, Jupiter is about to do you a great favour and enter your career house from the 10th. Over the next year, there’s an increased likelihood of making significant gains professionally or hitting the spotlight in your world. The 26th in this respect looks most interesting.
February 20-March 20
All that recent intensity with certain other people in your life should be receding now. All sorted, or at least going away. Whatever! Sun, Mercury and Jupiter are still urging you to pay closer attention to the quality of certain relationships or to the financial underlay of them. Jupiter is working towards offering relief from sexual, emotional or financial tension, and from the 10th it occupies its own house for a year – the solar house of Sagittarius in the sign of Scorpio. What a relief this will feel. This is like a double Jupiter blessing because its influence is likely to take you from these shores, or at least to new worlds and towards challenges with power to open up your life to greater opportunity. It may not happen all at once, but restlessness will grow as instincts sense the imminent end of certain routines or old ways of doing things. The 18th and 26th may hold early clues to this evolution.
