Aaron Bertie Gekoski is back  in the latest, action-packed episode of ‘Borneo Jungle Diaries’. This time ‘Bertie’ joins forces with animal scientist, Dr Sanchez and delves into the environment of the water monitor lizard. Dr Sanchez admits his passion for the creatures started as a child when he related the lizards to the mythological dragon! These remarkable creatures can grow up to 1.5 meters long and have a rather strong palette which includes decayed and decomposed foods. Immune to bacteria, monitor lizards can eat just about anything.

Setting up a trap filled with bait, they must  be patient and wait to capture one of the lizards before injecting a satellite tag beneath their scales. Tags allow animal scientists to track the lizards movements over a long period of time through the use of an antenna. Once retrieved, the tags give scientists date on the lizards preferred habitats and territory sizes.

Watch as Aaron Gekoski and Dr. Sanchez finally succeed in trapping one of the lizards! But will it be big enough?

Fun Fact: These lizards have no preference when it comes to location! They can adapt to just about any forest, plantation, jungle, village or city.
