Conscious Horoscope by Victor Olliver July 2017
March 21-April 20
‘Challenging’ stars do not mean bad news or oh-deary-me. Quite often when we’re trying to get something big to shove, shift or shoo, we need the kind of stimulating determination that ‘challenges’ require for victory. Your ruler Mars has not been at its strongest in recent times because, as it moves through Cancer, the planet does not exactly measure up in the Muscle Mary stakes. This has not stopped you from trying, pushing, demanding and cajoling. What you may have had to do is be more crafty and guileful, trying the road less trodden to get the better of a situation. The main area of action is the home and/or family – perhaps you’re selling up, trying to find a plumber who knows a ball from cock (good luck) or sorting out a loved one’s dilemma: the simplest things will have proved problematic and irksome, though many of you will have nonetheless got your prize, diplomatically if not sneakily. As for the rest of you… there’s great news: on the 20th Mars leaves Cancer and enters Leo, a sign you’re much happier with because it’s a fellow fire sign. Now we’re talking. By the 26th you’re feeling in mega-pushy mood to have fun and sex (or whatever) and to do a lot more of what you want to do. Now you can be direct and much more immediate. Warn the neighbours!
April 21-May 21
I hope you have started the makeover. You know, beautifying the exterior, detoxifying the interior and filling rooms with the fragrance emanating from polished teeth and the latest de luxe mild mint gobwash. No? Well, there’s still time. To the 5th, ruler Venus is strong in Taurus (so do something to reinvent your image – PR is soo important), and then the planet slips into Gemini for the rest of July which raises the importance of money, earnings, possessions, value (but also moral values) and other matters linked to, golly, Miss Lolly. Venus actually likes this bit of the chart because the 2nd solar house (money) is associated with Taurus and Venus: this is a month when you can indulge without too much anxiety about bankruptcy: will you succumb to the charms of a BOTTLETOP sustainably produced luxury tote? Taste is so personal. The days around the 18th are especially auspicious for boosting income or getting good value for money, though this happy fortune is associated with hard work or work that gives you joy (or even work done for the betterment of the under-privileged). This is not the trove of gambling or trustafarianism or other forms of something-for-nothing-much. The 24th may stop you in your spending tracks as someone reminds you of credit limits. But by the 30th, a sudden decision to take a risk or a chance meeting with a lucky weirdo proves profitable.
May 22-June 21
Fights over money could have been a feature of recent days as you we move into July – most probably you think you’ve been done over or underpaid; or someone is trying to control your spending, leading to some lively exchanges. Actually, the thing to do is dig. If you suspect someone is not being entirely straight, make sure you investigate, question and probe them. You’ll find your answers. Eventually. From the 6th to 25th, it would be fair to say that you will be in very feisty and proud mode, putting on a fireworks display of your verbal and mental dexterity (OK, showing off). And on the 15th (or thereabouts), expect great news related to communications, literary efforts, a creative project or some other life area that tickles a personal passion. This really is a time of growth for you even if on certain days you feel like giving up: Jupiter in your house of heartfelt energy is encouraging you to move more into the spotlight to show others what you’re brilliant at. On the 25th, ruler Mercury’s move into Virgo is also a positive development (Mercury also rules Virgo) and highlights greater attention to family matters: specifically, you’re plotting and planning to bring about changes, but at a micro-level to affect the macro: Virgo disciplines the mind to think about small details and practicalities. Nothing just happens and the way ahead can be tricky, yet you know what needs to be done and this is a nice prelude to August happenings, domestically.
June 22-July 22
Generally, Cancerians prefer not to adopt confrontational poses. Your way of dealing with awkward or just oppositional people is to sidle about (or submerge in a sandy pool, or equivalent) before delivering a surprise nip where the sun does not shine. With bolshie Mars in your sign till the 20th, you have been on some kind of war-footing, but not everyone will have noticed as you don’t always signal alarm or aggression. Somebody in your world simply refuses to see things as you do – and this somebody could be a partner, an ‘agent’ or some other person with whom there are close links. The best way forward is to ferret out the facts to secure your argument. From the 9th, running for two weeks or so, full moon brings matters to a head which can only be a good thing. The issue could be about practical things, the home, caring and/or possibly work too. Compromise is certainly an option if you wish to make progress. From the 14th finances and home start to look distinctly improved – there could be a new plan in place to find resources to expedite family developments. And certainly new moon in Leo on the 23rd, effective for between two to four weeks, marks a phase of opportunity to up income. By then Mars also is in Leo, adding heft to your determination not to be a mug when it comes to securing money for your high value.
July 23-August 23
A great many lions feel rather ‘caged’ at this time. And to add to this sense, volatile Uranus sits at the top of your sun chart stirring up all sorts of impractical wild thoughts and plans which only serve to deepen that sense of frustration. To be honest, succumbing to the odd temptation to go a bit feral is no bad thing – holidays are the best way to go about this to release pent up tension – whether it’s glamping in the British wild or engaging in some watersports off the Dalmatian Coast. The urge to purge the soul may intensify around mid-month – so my advice is that you set your mind on a do-able target that’s likely to spice up your life in a reasonably safe way. The 24th or thereabouts is a fabulous time to set in motion any kind of project or event that will help to open up life’s cage and give you a sense of freedom – remember, ‘freedom’ is always a relative term and you don’t really want to just run away from your world of the familiar; you just want to give it a rest for a while. New moon in your sign on the 23rd, lasting a good fortnight in effect, is a ‘resolution’ time: look in the mirror and say to yourself – “The time has come to relaunch this precious article that stares back at me. From now on, each day, I will do a little something to vary my routine. And God help anyone who bores me!” The power is vested in you to change things.
August 24-September 22
Virgins everywhere have raised the volume of late, their own volume that is. So often depicted as snuffly, quiet details people, they (ie you) have been on some kind of campaign trail in recent weeks, wanting to be heard. Whether politics, a cause, a charity or a business is the spur, you have adopted a reach-out position as you strive to work with or find like-minds with whom to conquer (or at least empower). In the early part of July, this tendency intensifies: some of you may even become quite strident in your march. Then between the 6th and 25th a curious thing occurs: you become even more assertive and determined to achieve a goal – but in a quieter or more subtle way. Only a Virgo could pull off the trick of being both theatrically persuasive and more cryptic, slyer, sneakier if not more soulful in your thoughts. It’s as if you’re trying to find the thing that binds us all (or binds your target audience) in order to touch a nerve. What are you up to? Achievement is more likely to occur once your ruler enters Virgo on the 25th and stays there a long time till the end of September, thanks to a retrograde. Now your mind and words are more in tune with your Sun sign, more punctilious, exact, cautious, critical and… ethical. All that has happened in past weeks can be digested and filed for future reference. Time approaches when in order to confound expectations, you need to be more yourself.
September 23-October 23
Past weeks will have seen you in more ‘intimate’ mode as you attempt to understand or deepen contact with key people – either for emotional or business reasons. From the 5th, ruler Venus sails into the chart house that says: ‘adventure’. Does this mean that you will buy a one-way ticket to Christmas Island in the Indian Ocean and be lost forever to an exciting forage? You may be tempted but of course real life has its hooks. And so in practice what ‘adventure’ may mean is that you are searching further afield for answers, results, new experiences. This is what we call the Gemini Venus, boldly going all over the place, talking to everyone who’s anyone, experimenting and trialing all sorts of different new things for your eventual greater good. In specific terms, if you’ve not yet got what you seek for any particular project, you will change tack and try some other way. If you’ve got your prize already, then this is the fuel to spread your wings, think bigger, and trespass on new ‘lands’ – perhaps literally. Many Librans will be travelling this month. Home or career issues will certainly preoccupy in the early days of July, and don’t be surprised if heads get a little hot at times. The 24th could find an obstacle to your progress… but by the 30th, new and less orthodox contacts will have been found to help you on your way. Yes, experiment, think the unthinkable. Be your own guinea pig.
October 23-November 22
If it’s any comfort all the signs will find early July a little contentious for all sorts of different reasons. This is because your two rulers (Mars and Pluto) are opposed, and for you this can mean a fundamental difference of opinion with colleagues, certain in-laws, teachers or lawyers – or just with yourself. In astrology, opposition invites a recognition that nothing is black or white or that you cannot have it all your own way. Scorpios generally are not happy with compromise: it strikes them as a cop-out, like processed food that looks yummy at a glance but does not do you much good. So, early July is a bumpy ride. What will come as some relief is that this month, three big planets move into your career house, giving you added impetus to excel at work, further ambitions, grab the spotlight or refine plans for promotion. Mid-July is your happiest time for these good things, with the proviso that in all career or public duty matters, keep things confidential where required and move with discretion. This shouldn’t be too much of a challenge because Scorpios are adept at cruising in the depths, so I’m just asking you to do what comes naturally and trust only the few.
November 23-December 21
How well this month goes depends on how much you welcome change, especially change within yourself. For a quite a while now, you have been having to face really big developments that bring things to an end but also help other things to grow and replace the old. Saggies have a tremendous ability to philosophise; or to make sense of life through spiritual or intellectual patterns. So, while another star sign might fight change or resent it, you are more likely to accept the flow of things provided that you can make sense of it all in the greater scheme of things. So here goes: right now, in your Sun chart, the great promise is that a whole new way of living lies before you if you accept that certain things or people are approaching the exit point. This is a natural process and the promise is that you emerge from all this much stronger and wiser than ever before. Meantime, the planets want you to expand your social worlds, to meet more people and develop essential links that help your business or campaigning work. The days around the 14th are especially wonderful for this, when a bold new idea or communication really helps ignite a commercial development or push something you believe in. In your heart there’s a revolutionary to be found – by the end of July you may just find another soul who shares your way of seeing things.
December 22-January 20
There’s a lot of uppitiness about in your world, self-important toads trying to push you about or sell you a line or otherwise dare to challenge your might. How dare they! Cappies give a good impression of stately calm and seldom reveal their tenacious side unless crossed by knaves and fools. So, it’s Tenacious Time (especially in early July) as you fix some sharp stiletto to your boots in readiness for some kicking. Sounds awful, but it’s not really. It’s just that you are quite certain that a fundamental change in how you deal with certain key people in your life is now required. In fact much of July is really about the quality of relationships in your life: What are they giving you? Are they supportive? Do they stimulate you? Are they ‘feeding’ you? This approach is likely to lead to some considerable career advantage around mid-month as a useful person delivers an opportunity – and remember that growth planet Jupiter occupies your career house for a while yet, so you can expect promotion or greater appreciation in this life department. Full moon in Capricorn on the 9th will greatly help you throughout July to put your case, to expound ideas and reveal your heart, with the added oomph of Pluto that sits near this lunation: quite frankly, people will be comparing you to a steamroller by the time you’re done. A time to initiate and push forward.
January 21-February 19
On the whole this month feels more carefree, especially when Venus hits Gemini in your house of fun and frolics on the 5th, and stays there till early August. Venus, which rules love, fashion and money, adores this chart area because it plucks at all the things that cause your heart to beat, whether that’s Baked Alaska or RuPaul’s wigs. Venus here is more hedonistic than ethical it must be said, though since you’re reading this, I’m assuming you’re not some foggy TV reality show troggy but an evolved soul with a responsible wicked side. Whether everyone appreciates your lurch into self-indulgence remains to be seen but astrologically, the signs are that the latter half of the month looks more fun than the former. If there are wrinkly areas then look to the work area – early July could see you get quite stubborn over a day-to-day professional matter, and the 17th is a time to watch for flare-ups as ruler Uranus squares Mars. May be you or someone else is getting far too pushy and the result is sparks. The Sun too squares Uranus on the 20th, so once again be prepared to have to deal with some awkward customers in your world who perhaps don’t get your creative independence. But these little things aside, enjoy July. It’s your playground.
February 20-March 20
The home area has not been the happiest place for you fishes of late – something a bit mystifying is going on, and you’re keen to get to the bottom of this. Venus’ move into the chart house of the home and family will certainly warm the place up emotionally and perhaps financially, but because ruler Neptune lurks in a square to this area, remain alert to any kind of misunderstanding or even deception, especially on the 17th. Yet only a day later, Venus forms a harmonious link with Jupiter in one of the houses of money, so expect a bonus or windfall or other dollop of money that could prove useful domestically. July is a ‘passionate’ month which could mean loads of bed-bound panting or just that you’re putting in extra effort to achieve in your own right. This excess of zeal will put you on a collision course with certain others, especially groups or any business you’re involved in, especially early month. Right at the end of July, unexpected financial developments will lift the mood at home – perhaps you’ve taken an independent line or followed a hunch – and you’ll be feeling that after all the struggle you’re finally making progress. Onwards!
