Known for her effortless grace and grown-up glamour, the Duchess of Cambridge possesses style admired the world over. With an eye for beautiful design and exquisite tailoring, Ms Middleton has more than proved she knows a fashion standout piece when she sees one. Naturally then, when we heard that her favourite, designer Katherine Hooker’s latest Made in Britain Fashion, autumn collection had hit stores, we couldn’t wait to take a peek – and we weren’t disappointed. The luxury British designer presents a collection seamlessly exhibiting masculine tailoring with a feminine twist. The beautifully crafted range of contemporary outerwear is the very embodiment of timeless elegance; consisting of expertly woven tweed, boxy blazers and sharp overcoats there’s something striking for every occasion.

Meanwhile, we are pleased to reveal that Catherine Southton auctioneers are having their third sale of the year and we have a sneaky feeling it’s going to be the best one yet; Catherine is thrilled to be able to include a fascinating original collection of artwork by Alistair K MacDonald.
Alistair was a Scotsman whose drawings appeared regularly in British and American periodicals, he was also a book illustrator and designed cocktail and dinner menus for the Cunard Line, including a magnificent diary-style brochure for the Aquitania in the 1930s.
Our personal highlights of the collection are his fantasy drawings depicting scantily dressed girls as birds, butterflies and insects – both beautiful and a little mischievous, we think they’d light up any room.
With paintings starting from £150, this is wonderfully accessible art for anyone to enjoy. So pop down to Farleigh Court Golf Club (near East Croydon) on Wednesday 19th November 2014 to witness an event seamlessly combining culture, antiquity and art – and you may even return home clutching your very own piece of history.
