Aries

March 21-April 20

Aries

Of course you’re feeling agitated. Wild but inspirational Uranus leaves Aries this month, having put you through a fairly chaotic but life-changing phase since 2011, throwing all sorts of lovelies out the window (but also lobbing in some gorgeous surprises). What could possibly follow that act? Uranus moves into your financial area on the 15th and stays there till 2026! But quite early you’ll feel its effects – especially in relation to a career push or status hike: some sort of power tussle is ongoing (don’t deny it) and you’d be wise this month to consciously put a lid on temper and impatience: if in doubt, slow the tempo. Past the half way mark of May, you’re in a much stronger position to uncover secrets and unravel mysteries – face the things you’d rather not, and marvel at the progress made.

Taurus

Taurus

April 21-May 21

The word ‘bovine’ cannot describe you any more – not with dramatic Uranus entering your sign mid-month. Or put another way, we know what a bull can do if provoked – there’s not much that can stop its charge. Now, this might suggest that you’re about to be enraged beyond endurance and toss a few people about on your horns, but that is not the case (probably). Uranus’ power enters your soul and triggers a greater readiness to move with the moment (as opposed to sticking in your hooves), affecting you now and in the many years ahead, in all sorts of ways. You will become more alert to sudden opportunity, as soon as this month. Many of you will be travelling in May or looking beyond your local world for adventure or inspiration. The omens favour a wild old time.

Gemini

Gemini

May 22-June 21

Bluntly put, a dramatic month. To a more stolid sign, this could sound like a nightmare. But given your natal readiness for high-speed happenings, you’ll generally embrace what is to come. To mid-month, new associations and business initiatives work well for you. Then from mid-month to the penultimate day, you go into a sort of lockdown because you’re up to something: you’re plotting – an opportunity has aroused your instincts, and discretion is now required. Ruler Mercury joins Uranus in that part of the horoscope that affects how you approach life, philosophically in the main, if not spiritually. You’re up for a challenge, a risk or an act of amazing independence…something in your life wants to see you released from an old way, or an ancient hang-up. The 29th, day of full moon in your opposite sign, sees either a welcome showdown or orgasmic culmination, in a relationship. Whoopee!

Cancer

Cancer

June 22-July 22

The beguiling side of your persona comes to the fore as Venus moves over the Gemini-Cancer cusp this month, softening your crab shell sharp edges, moistening your libido (or instincts for fun frolics) and, in some instances, arousing the in-built heat-seeking opportunism you possess for a good deal. Venus in astrology represents many things – partnership, friendship, money, diplomacy and (yum-yum) style. So, take your pick. May is certainly not a month to hide away in a shallow pool hoping no one notices you. Uranus, mid-month, enters the chart house it rules, and sets a new pattern of behaviour for the next eight years (yes, I said eight), in how you deal with organisations, business and your own ideals. The growing tendency will be to seek out group activity to get what you want, and to prefer the alliances of eccentrics, entrepreneurs and other maverick creators. There’s far too much conformity about.

Leo

Leo

July 23-August 23

Work, career and your status are all you’re thinking about in May. And if you’re telling me that you lack all three (as if!), then you’ll be doing a lot to fill those gaps. For the most part, career or status interests are advanced not by yielding to erratic impulses or sudden openings (sometimes confused with creative genius or bolts out of the blue), but by a much more gentle and consistent approach. The real area of interest is the day-to-day, how you go about doing things on a mundane level, through routine, duty and schedule. There’s room here to change or improve things, but only by working gently on bosses or colleagues, to unravel what’s really going on. Mid-month, Uranus enters your career house, just to keep you on your toes, and so for the next few years, do not always expect to enjoy or suffer absolute certainty: instead, welcome the notion that anything can change very quickly and for the better. Hold to that idea.

Virgo

Virgo

August 24-September 22

More than ever, there’s great determination to see things done in the way you first dreamt them. Thank Mars and Pluto for that: the two power planets merged in April, and their effect lingers now for quite a while, adding steel to your endeavours done in your name – anything from hobbies to artistic or creative projects (or pursuing what’s best for your kids, if any). The added element here is an unusual desire to shake things up, to break old habits and find a new life someplace, geographically, spiritually, intellectually; whatever. Get used to that feeling (which may alarm you at times) because stormy but inspired Uranus this month enters the chart house of foreign affairs, education, philosophy and distant travel. Uranus’ influence in any one of these areas is long-term: in the time ahead, ensure passport is within grasp, travel insurance is topped up – and sharpen a language skill, perhaps.

Libra

September 23-October 23

For all the star signs, May will feel like a start-up month (something new in the air!), and in Libra this revolution will be felt keenly both in very personal and financial matters, and at home among loved ones. This notion may alarm you because Librans adore harmony and balance, and what I seem to be saying is that chaos lies before you. Not necessarily! Probably not at all. Here’s why. Uranus mid-month moves into the chart house of your shared interests (business, financial, emotional) and soul condition, priming you for some fundamental shifts linked to creative energies now and in the years ahead. In a sense you’re undergoing a bit of a temperamental change, enabling you to adapt to faster-changing situations, because life wants you to. This internal motion is echoed in your domestic arrangements: a big change you’re pushing for (intensely in April 2018) may not be done yet; October 2018 is your likely month for completion or a step-up. Meantime, cherish your new ideas and interests… these can take you far or farther.

Scorpio

October 23-November 22

Here’s a very specific forecast: a ‘weirdo’ is about to change your life. You may have met them already, but anyway…. What is a weirdo? Is Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook, one? He looks a bit odd, 5ft 7in of geeky intensity, born in Scorpio’s opposite sign, Taurus. Oh and he’s a multi-billionaire. Suddenly ‘weirdo’ sounds interesting; winning. Howard Hughes – defo weirdo. That guy that set up Amazon – omg! Very odd-seeming. Are you about to encounter such a person who will change your life forever? I have no idea. But let me put it to you like this: someone who approaches life against the norm is about to set you some kind of challenge. This person could be an old bag in a bus queue, or some suit on the 10th floor of a glass tower. Or a bearded guru. If you don’t like non-conformity, May could feel uncomfortable as you wrestle with breaking rules. If you’re young-souled enough to relish a break from the mould, the month of May could be the zingy life shower that causes tingles. Up to you.

Sagittarius

Sagitarius

November 23-December 21

If you’ve been getting a bit cranky in recent months about your health, or just about the pattern of life, and preoccupied with wanting to throw every goddam thing out and start again, well blame punk planet Uranus. At its best, this celestial links us to creative spontaneity. At worst, it really taps our inner eccentric, and frankly makes us seem very odd. Have people noticed you growing a bit odd lately? So, Uranus mid-month, enters your house of health and work, and this sets up an eight-year pattern when you can expect much sudden change in how you operate, in what you do, whom you work with – and through health and wellbeing, real or imagined. Though this wild side has its charm, your main concern at this time remains financial: how will all this topsy-turvy-dom affect your wallet/purse? Advice is to steer clear of the crazier notions and stick to the practical: you can still navigate a new path within established structures. Do try to calm down.

Capricorn

Capricorn

December 22-January 20

The skies want you to think about you, big time. This is not about selfishness. Or self-interest, purely. It’s about rediscovering what you excel at, what you enjoy, what causes you to punch the air or say Yes! Many of you will have been buried alive under responsibilities in recent times. This experience sets up a pattern of putting others first, and sometimes at one’s own expense. This has its huge value where caring is concerned, but nature abhors everlasting martyrdom, in the main. May is a time for really going for it for you, whether it’s a talent, a love or a life-giving fun thing. Helping you in this endeavour, now and over the years to come, is Uranus, the deity of rule-breaking and cosmic connections. Ruler Saturn can help you base a new life on a good foundation. It will take time. You know that. Get on with it.

Aquarius

Aquarius

January 21-February 19

The frank thing to say is that you’re in the mood for trouble. I don’t say all Aquarians will be clapped up in irons, but you certainly will be on a war-footing, or pushing your interests with unusual determination. This is because warrior Mars is passing over the Capricorn-Aquarius cusp in May, highlighting life’s tendency to feed us what we need – which in your case is some kind of fight or challenge to which you are equal. And it’s not just this month! In June, Mars turns retrograde, and promises you an ultra-lively life right into October 2018. One major focal point for all this abundant energy is the home area – just think what can be achieved. All those bookshelves put up. All those carpets hoovered. Hopefully Mars will be inspiring you to do even greater things, including the consideration of a residential move or refurbishment, or finally sorting out some clan bonds. Or beefing up your sense of personal security. Are you ready to rumble?

Pisces

Pisces

February 20-March 20

Jupiter continues its retrograde though the chart house of adventure, study and mould-breaking, in a happy angular relationship with ruler Neptune, still in your favourite sign, Pisces. In old astrology, Jupiter is the ruler of Pisces, so you have the best of both worlds here, if you hope or plan to step-up your ambitions in some way. The two Pisces planets are setting you up to expand, seek enlightenment, perhaps go overseas or add a floor to your intellect. Many of you will be planning to travel and/or thinking of starting an academic course. In the more immediate sense, many of your planets are in social/communication chart houses, suggesting that what you say or write is key to how you interact within groups or in pursuit of dreams – this is a wonderful time for progress if you can keep heart and mind open to that part of us we cannot always rationally control, the source of inspiration. There’s no easy way to do this except to remember that the best moments in life are often when our brain is off-duty, doing something other than what we think is ‘useful’.
