February 2017

Aries

Aries

March 21-April 20

At the end of January, the cosmos put the equivalent of nitroglycerin into your soul. If you’re not feeling explosively restless, you’re hyper-active, rarin’ to go or doing what you’re famous for – hustling! What I mean is, pushy Mars (your ruler) bustled its way into your sign where it stays till March. If you’re trying to break down barriers or get to the next stage of life by some reasonable force, make the most of the sky thrust. Oh, but there’s more. From the 3rd, Venus is in Aries – and more-or-less stays there until well into April. This potentially adds finesse and polish to your campaign style, inclines you to make the most of allies and new friends. And certainly in this phase, do re-work your appearance and image because the results could be spectacular for you. Whether it’s kitten heels or anything in fuchsia or the new trench coat look, stay on trend to bend people to your will. The lunar eclipse on the 11th brings to a head certain relationship issues in your life, particularly over personal space: you’re keen to break free, but have you thought out what you will do with that freedom? By the 26th, when Mars hits Uranus, there could be a rupture or a break or… a liberation. Bye, bye Alcatraz!

Taurus

Taurus

April 21-May 21

If the temptation to hibernate is strong right now, don’t blame just the weather. Your chart is encouraging you to step out of the snow storm and seek shelter where it’s warm and safe. If only you lived in Florence: then you could re-discover yourself in the Convent of San Marco. But every town and city on the planet has a special place for reflection and calm. I could put it another way: do make more time to rest, recuperate and contemplate. At this time, life progresses the more you take into consideration other people’s needs. In general, attempts to take direct control of any situation won’t be as effective as pulling strings behind the scenes or applying a lesson learnt from the painful past. So, a great deal may be happening; just be prepared to take a backseat – this does not stop you from having a say about how the car gets driven, of course. The lunar eclipse on the 11th points to career questions – my advice is to give a lot of thought to your hopes and purposes before taking any action. Time’s on your side to make the right decision. The solar eclipse on the 26th could mark a new business or social initiative that helps career or profile.

Gemini

Gemini

May 22-June 21

This is quite a ‘worldly’ time for Geminis with a strong under-current of adventure and barrier-breaking. And from the 7th till almost the end of this month, there’s a high likelihood of you ‘taking off’ just like that. This is because ruler Mercury is in Aquarius in the chart area that governs travel. Around the 20th, an opportunity to holiday or take a break from routine can be expected: you’ll know this by the suddenness of the chance. It’ll seem to come out from nowhere. Socially and in your business life, things are definitely on the move for you. You’ll be reaching out with greater determination, and deploying much charm in the process – this last tendency lasts well into late spring. The Feb. 11 lunar eclipse will heighten your need to ‘escape’ (which in astrology can mean anything from a new study to a holiday), and this could make you super-restless if you’re tied down. Look forward to the solar eclipse on the 26th which has a lasting effect, up to August 2017. This occurs in your career house: some of you could be starting a new job, heading for promotion or chucking out any situation past its sell-by.

Cancer

Cancer

June 22-July 22

Career (‘the job’) is taking up a lot of your energy but also dangling lots of baubles to keep you on the premises. Work may be drawing you into lots of social events, and if this is the case – good! Venus is sailing serenely through your career house and does not complete her cruise till late-ish April. In practice this sweetens the potential for growth through informal professional encounters where you’re just as likely to be judged on how you maintain eye contact and your white polished teeth as on your CV. You can only pity those clots who imagine that all successful people hit the peak just by playing by the manual. Many a promotion occurs after a happy exchange over a drink or three – remember the power of casual. The lunar eclipse on the 11th does bring up financial issues linked to career and home: this could be a good moment to renegotiate a deal or issue an artfully worded ultimatum. From the 26th following the solar eclipse, and for the next six months or so, many of you will be turning the mind to a new study, a residential move, a long-distance trip or a whole new way of living.

Leo

Leo

July 23-August 23

The mind-weather for a great many Leos is quite stormy. Some of you could be locked in a battle of wills; certainly many of you are seeking new intellectual stimulation, more or new study and/or a new life away from whatever is ‘here’. Astrologically, the powerful Jupiter-Uranus opposition accounts for this, and the lunar eclipse on the 11th will activate something in your life, probably through a conversation with a partner (of any kind) or someone else close. In any disagreement or debate, what seems to be the bone of contention can be driven by other disguised deeper issues – and this could be the case now. You may feel ready for ‘change’ while others are not. This is not something to fear: the urge to learn (i.e. to expand one’s inner power through knowledge) is part of a timeless need to evolve and move on. This self-improvement theme is strengthened by the solar eclipse on the 26th which usually signals a new life phase that either starts abruptly or develops gradually. Now or in the next six months, you’re taking steps to feed your soul, your mind – and/or (to keep this practical) your bank balance. Sometimes to make more we must learn more. But in any case, ‘more’ is now your nickname. Ok, More?

Virgo

Virgo

August 24-September 22

In our most enlightened mode, we could say money is a form of energy, not just a measure of whether we’re haves, have-nots or have-yachts. On this basis then, the maelstrom in your life revolves around money, property, possessions: the energy of returns and security. Truth is, you’re not happy with this energy. For some reason it’s not delivering more of what you need or want – money! Never will this be more apparent than at the time of the lunar eclipse on the 11th which holds a clue to what could be holding you back: something to do with health or work or… attitude. If the upshot of this eclipse is greater insight into your life situation then that’s progress. This is a useful prelude to the solar eclipse on the 26th, effective for six months, which points to a new phase of cooperative action to get to where you want. A new ‘partnership’ could be one upshot. Don’t forget I mentioned health: ruler Mercury’s in your chart house of health this month: be mindful of the body beautiful and clean food-fed stamina. Plant protein is the new big thing in ethical hedonism: pea and hemp protein could be the means to a more pumped-up you.

Libra

September 23-October 23

So much more of your time is being taken up by the condition of certain key relationships. You could call this ‘other people-engineering’. What needs to be done to improve a key bond or how does one go about deepening or ending one? The best place to start in questions of this sort is with oneself. And here, we see one possible explanation for the likely bumpy ride you’re going through with some people. The Jupiter-Uranus opposition! Both planets want to grow and exceed boundaries, but one (Uranus) is a great deal more volatile than the other so that there can be a tension in you between wanting to start afresh, because the present is too still or sluggish, and recognising the need to advance through knowledge (the slower, safer option). If any of this makes sense, the lunar eclipse on the 11th will probably bring to the surface certain key issues to address, probably around ideals in relation to personal needs and wants. It could simply be that some action needs to be taken which re-adjusts life to what you set out to do before compromise took over. The solar eclipse on the 26th is a marker of a potential new way of working or operating, perhaps in a manner that is more spiritually enlightening. Or at least truer to your natal gifts and calling. All a bit deep? Well, start digging into your psyche, deep!

Scorpio

October 23-November 22

Health and/or work conditions are highlighted by your co-ruler Mars that’s perilously close to another stormy planet, Uranus. Should you be worrying? First, what’s the point of worrying? Mars where it is now in your chart will be making you worry about a lot of things, needlessly for the most part. I won’t say ‘Calm down, dear’. That’s annoying. What I shall say is: when other people are getting on your nerves, when the work situation appears to be getting on top of you, when you’re tempted to press the button that would drop and drown your colleagues in a vast vat of Elvish honey (awfully good for you, by the way), you know it’s time to do something to soothe the savage beast that dwells within you. Vetiver and Bergamot aromatherapy oils are perfect for soul healing. The career area improves through the lunar eclipse on the 11th provided you stay calm – indeed the answer to most of the tensions of this time lies in self-healing. The more you change your habits of a lifetime (not just habits of self-pleasure but the unthinking reflexes) the more you will find the changes in work that you desire. By the 26th, you’re a lot readier not just to change the inner self but also to find new people more in tune with you.

Sagittarius

Sagitarius

November 23-December 21

In recent times you have been expanding your social world, perhaps for professional or humanitarian reasons. Since the world has an unlimited supply of new people to find, this can be as exciting as you want it to be – even if there’s the painful discovery to be made that not everyone is what they seem to be. When ruler Jupiter goes retrograde from the 6th (until June 2017) this is no bad thing. The cosmos is gifting you more time to reach out to others in pursuit of new opportunities and to tell everyone about yourself. The only slight difference in a retro is that you may be questioning your own needs and motivations a bit more in order to filter out time-wasters who may not entirely understand where you’re coming from. It’s funny how the wrong people will queue up patiently just to make a mess of our lives. The lunar eclipse on the 11th links to Jupiter as well as Uranus (which is driving your heightened passion to tell people what you’re really about) so that you may come to realise that there is at the core of one situation in your life a basic difference of view that needs addressing. You can’t be carrying a dead weight! In what is a fascinating life period, a new chapter is about to open at home, under the solar eclipse of the 26th that’s effective for up to six months.

Capricorn

Capricorn

December 22-January 20

Some of you may be trying to break out of a domestic ‘jail’ to further career while others of you are trying to burrow your way out of a job so that home matters can get more of your attention. It’s all happening! Actually the point is: you’re tempted to make a ‘break out’, whatever your life situation. Finances may be one of the spurs for change, especially around the lunar eclipse on the 11th: sometimes a practical challenge is all the excuse you need to break down a block to progress. But you don’t need an excuse. Remember, you’re entitled to do what you like, provided you can live with yourself and the consequences of your actions. If you can’t, then try to accept that not everything can be achieved all at once. This is actually a constructive month for coming to terms with the speed of life progress: ruler Saturn is quietly restful in Pisces’ traditional house, so use a lot of time to make the most of contemplation and memories; for in remembering stuff we can help the process of refashioning ourselves for the new life ahead. The solar eclipse on the 26th marks a very busy phase of at least six months, so make the most of time available to tend to matters of love and self-responsibility. And self.

Aquarius

Aquarius

January 21-February 19

What a creative, constructive month this looks like. Although a Jupiter-ruler Uranus opposition sounds painful, it is actually highly dynamic and motivating. You’re thinking beyond old limits, you’re developing natal gifts; and many of you will be drawn overseas or to new territory. Restlessness and impatience are perhaps the main problems to face – and if this is so, your chart offers advice: ask yourself who’s setting the pace? This takes us to Pluto which always encourages us to probe the self for answers. It could very well be that bad habits acquired from parents or life itself have led you to think that everything must be done this instant when in fact there’s no need to rush. Show some consideration for a partner or close colleague around the lunar eclipse of the 11th – their cooperation is somehow vital to a project you’re involved in. By late month, you’re vocally in super-determined mood to do things your own way – excellent if you’re up against dullards; a bit of a problem if a lot of people are already on your side. The solar eclipse on the 26th opens a new financial phase for you. Yes, it’s time to think about money.

Pisces

Pisces

February 20-March 20

Believe it or not but this is generally a great time financially (don’t laugh if you’re filing for bankruptcy!). Co-ruler Jupiter occupies one of the chart money houses, and it’s presently being excited or tickled by Uranus: the material side of life is a big issue at this time and the direction of travel is onwards and outwards. On the whole, do trust new ventures or novel approaches to the earning of money, especially around the 11th when a powerful lunar eclipse links a work situation to finances – more likely this could be a culmination of a project (or alternatively, you’re giving someone a blast for late payment). The eclipse may also serve you with a reminder to take better care of health or to embark on a new lifestyle regime to maintain energy levels: no, that does not mean lashings of Red Bull. The Pisces solar eclipse on the 26th, valid for up to six months, is especially favourable for you: it signals opportunities to start afresh or to embark on a new life episode. The main thing to watch at this time is impulsiveness in financial matters. However with Mars and Uranus merging on the 26th in your house of income, this could be a moment of an unusual break-through.
