What’s So Pukka About Turmeric and Green Tea?
When it comes to natural health, and many of the conditions that seem to ail us in the 21st century, the spotlight is on the golden super spice, turmeric, highly prized in Ayurveda, the ancient Medicine of India as the great defender of health.
Alison Jane Reid, Ethical Hedonist founder, talks to Katie Tildesley, a certified practitioner at Pukka Herbs, and finds out why scientists are so excited about the spice that is a proven, potent anti-inflammatory, and can be used to reduce pain, enhance liver function, lower cholesterol and repair cellular damage in the body.
Interestingly, it is about five years since Sebastian Pole, the founder of Pukka Herbs, told me in an interview that we should all consume turmeric in our diets on a daily basis for its antioxidant protection and to promote vibrant health and longevity. This is supported by the latest scientific research which reveals that turmeric is a wonder of nature. The spice that thrives in hot, arid countries such as India appears to offer protection against this effect in the body. Find out how you can incorporate turmeric into you daily diet by drinking turmeric tea, which has been shown to offer as much anti-oxidant protection as a bowl of blueberries. Smoothies and gold pressed juices are another way to enjoy the health benefits from the super spice.
In Sanskrit, the name for turmeric is ‘haridra’, which means ‘giving yellow’. For centuries, turmeric has been used by Ayurvedic doctors to purify the blood, keep the skin pure and promote long life.
The second part of this video interview takes a look at green tea and its antioxidant benefits for vibrant health and wellbeing. You can find Pukka Teas and Turmeric Supplements in our Fair-trade Magazine Shop Here – Star Producer Pukka Herbs and help fund our sustainable magazine.
