I am sorry, but as a female journalist I am secretly rather enjoying the unfolding spectacle of Aidan Turner becoming the hottest man on the planet! While the very talented Eleanor Tomlinson retains mystery and waifish allure as Demelza, and keep her clothes on, in a spectacular reversal of stereotypes, Aidan is constantly portrayed as a brooding, earthy, sexy god.
Aidan and the Rugged Cornish Landscape as One
But is it okay to admit that in the we are all equal, post modern age? It an inspired piece of casting – Aidan and the rugged, elemental Cornish landscape, brought to life so well in Winson Graham’s novels. It is almost as if the man and Cornwall’s harsh rugged landscape are one. So much for genteel drama on the beeb on a Sunday night, though I am torn between Poldark and Indian Summers! Hands up who prefers another hottie, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, as the mercurial, Ralph Whelan, to Poldark? I do have a thing about a man in a dash of immaculate Savile Row tailoring.
I’ve lost count of the number of times we see Aidan Turner galloping his handsome steed along the cathedral like cliffs of Cornish tin mining country or feeling the overwhelming desire to take his top off. Pass the smelling salts! Auntie (The BBC) must be absolutely delighted with their hottest leading man since Colin Firth and the incident of the wet, white, flowing shirt in that version of Pride and Prejudice.
Aidan Turner is Inspiring a Zillion Feminine Fantasies
Oh my! Aidan Turner seems to be enjoying every moment of playing the leading man. Of course, he is praternaturally good looking, and he does the right thing, like marring Demelza, his servant girl. When does that happen in real life? This man is currently responsible for a zillion girlish fantasies. Where will it all end? I predict Poldark-Mania. I wonder if Aidan practices his moves in the mirror, before unleashing all that saturnine intensity and testosterone on the female populace? Anyway, happy Easter – here are some pictures to admire of Aidan Turner, while I go and lie down and eat another organic Easter egg.
