Art aficionados and film buffs alike can indulge themselves in a little Romanticism this Autumn; As Mike Leigh’s Mr Turner opens in cinemas, starring Timothy Spall as the great British painter, and ‘The EY Exhibition: Late Turner – Painting Set Free’ explores Turner’s late works of art, there has never been a better moment to discover the man behind the masterpieces.
The critically acclaimed biopic follows the life of Turner after his father’s death, promising a heart-wrenching juxtaposition of grief and awe-inspiring paintings.
Tate Britain’s exhibition celebrates Turner’s astonishing creative flowering in these later years, bringing together spectacular works from the UK and abroad.
