November 2014

Aries

Aries

March 21-April 20

A very powerful Mars-Pluto conjunction 9th-12th is something to look out for this month. Rather like a psychic Big Bang, something new and promising may arise from an explosion of ego and ambition. How this is experienced will vary with each individual. For a few of you, it could go so far as to dumping a job or career because your eye is on something bigger and better. Or, huge changes are experienced or ruthlessly instigated in career which may not feel wonderful but can be progressive. For others, a recurring theme about your need to be always in charge may surface – the paradox could lie in a growing realisation of letting go to some extent. Whatever, the manifestation of this aspect, career (or public status) will undergo some sort of radical change this month; and 11th-14th could be a time to watch your own rebelliousness. The return of the long-term Uranus-Pluto square from the 23rd adds to excitement in career matters but warns against sudden impulsive moves for the sake of ‘freedom’.

Taurus

Taurus

April 21-May 21

There’s a great focus on placating, charming, schmoozing, there-there-ing and negotiating with other people – friends, partner(s), advisers; even the public, in some instances. All this can be very good and productive, but in subsuming one’s own feelings and concerns, there’s the risk of feeling downgraded or neglected. Around 17th-19th, when Sun conjoins Saturn, you could be taking charge of a situation which requires a clear head. This may not feel negative at all but entirely natural. Perhaps some in your circle are thinking fancifully. You certainly are not. This is the time, with Saturn’s help, when personal effectiveness increases. On the 23rd, the long-term Uranus-Pluto square resumes. This brings a sense of added excitement to hopes or plans to alter life completely (such as changing job or moving abroad) but brings with it the risk of precipitate action, perhaps because of friends’ influence or because you’ve forgotten the realities of human frailty in an impatient surge of dogmatism. Around 26th-27th, a stimulating, fun time with a partner or close friend is most likely.

Gemini

Gemini

May 22-June 21

You start the month with head full of ideas to do with creativity (such as writing) or some other personal, expressive project. This suits you mighty fine. Nonetheless, the chart focal point is still on Virgo’s natural home: attending to paperwork and work day patterns and colleagues (and health). On the 8th (to 28th), ruler Mercury enters this house (which it rules), tending to sharpen the critical faculties and encourage fault-finding. People in detail-oriented work will thrive. Because Saturn is also present in this chart sector, you need to watch you don’t over-do the carping and coldness. The 12th-13th, and 17th-19th are also periods of hard work, extra-dutifulness or laying down the law to people you work with. This is most likely to be a very busy time. From the 16th, recent rifts stand a chance of healing as Venus enters its natural home of Libra followed by the Sun on the 22nd and your ruler Mercury (28th). You’ve made your point, now’s the time to focus on how you can work with key people.

Cancer

Cancer

June 22-July 22

A new mood is signalled by Taurus Full Moon from the 6th for about a fortnight. If the lunar phases are about retaining life balances, then this one is about reminding you of outer-world concerns amid the joy (and possible ‘selfishness’) of personal expression. A friend, relative or group may come calling for your help. Or in some way, an organisation may want to involve you more in its activities. In the phases 12th-13th and 17th-19th, these are great times to turn an artistic vision into concrete form or to solidify a new relationship, probably romantic. Whatever seems of late light-hearted, free-spirited, expressive or fun-filled now benefits from a more serious or practical consideration. Sagittarius New Moon in Virgo’s traditional chart sector from the 22nd embraces the new mood I alluded to above, and takes you well into December. With Venus already there (since the 16th) and Mercury to follow (28th), you’re a lot more inclined to tackle what’s in front of you (daily work, usually) – rather than to procrastinate or fantasise.

Leo

Leo

July 23-August 23

If you’re a typical Lion, work could prove addictive at this time. Capricorn Mars in Virgo’s old house drives you to push and complete projects – and drive co-workers around the bend if you’re not careful. Mars in this house works best by lowering the ego tone and channelling energies into the job–in-hand. Quite possibly, a new responsibility is re-motivating you – if it has not happened yet there’s time left, to December 4. November 9-12 is a period when you could be instigating a major alteration at work or in daily schedule, with the risk of upsetting others if you’re overbearing. Quite possibly after this phase, work life changes in some substantial way; perhaps something or someone has had to be jettisoned for improvements. The 12th-14th is a short phase when you could get carried away on family expenditure or promising too much to loved ones, as ruler Sun squares Jupiter. Keep things real. On the 22nd Sun moves into Sagittarius and Leo’s traditional house – the start of a month of pronounced creativity, leisure, pleasure-making and doing what expresses personal passions.

Virgo

Virgo

August 24-September 22

The financial theme is still with you as you enter November: ruler Mercury continues to orient life towards money planning, deals, assets, accountants. In the 12th-13th and 17th-19th phases, when Venus and Sun conjunct Saturn respectively, you could be forming a new commitment or professional relationship founded on practical considerations. Mood may be a little austere, certainly deadly serious: you mean business and are not inclined to frivolity. On 25th-26th, when it’s Mercury’s turn to conjoin Saturn, a need to think and speak with precision is indicated: someone in conversation may point out a weakness in a plan or idea; and you’re in no mood to humour time-wasters. Not exactly party-time, then, but a useful one to see-through to targets. From the 22nd – in the next fortnight to one month – you could be taking very practical steps to improve the structure of your dwelling; or, in another sense, to address whatever undermines sense of security.

Libra

Libra

September 23-October 23

If the mood was generally lighter last month, November has a buckle-down feel to it – so there’s much opportunity to make tangible progress and not fritter away hard-earned savings on fripperies. On 12th-13th the onus falls on you to think practically or strictly about a cash matter affecting partnership, any kind of close relationship or business. Any decision made must be sentiment-free. 17th-19th also demands a business-only approach: this is a phase for putting things in order, ensuring everything’s being done by the book and checking accounts, etc. This realistic, no-nonsense attitude also surfaces 25th-26th when Mercury merges with Saturn: you’ll be discussing financial matters, assessing what’s do-able (or not) and discovering any potential loophole or oversight to do with cash or assets. Sagittarius New Moon on the 22nd heralds a month of raised social activity – this can be a period when people ask, ‘Where have you been?’ And thinking of partnership, end of month holds a lovely, sudden surprise in that department.

Scorpio

scorpio

October 23-November 22

The great qualities attached to you – personal magnetism, penetrating vision, passionate focus, huge sexual and emotional energy, among other positives – are at their most keen, more likely to be displayed through events and circumstances than at any other time of the year. Venus in Scorpio softens personal intensity, at least until the 16th. Life is drawing out your more beguiling and winning side. If you have the forbidding ‘eyes of Caligula’, you’ll be wearing the latest stylish shades to mirror whatever the viewer would like to see of you. You could be working on image or the body beautiful – no amount of pushing and probing will lead to successful results without seductive presentation. Sagittarius New Moon on the 22nd, setting the tone for the next month or so, won’t end the above process but augurs a new phase directed towards financial realities and possible growth. With Venus already in Sagittarius, business opportunity is likely if you’re open to it – and a mood of enjoying what money/assets you have may overcome you at times.

Sagittarius

Sagitarius

November 23-December 21

To the 22nd, you’re likely to be a lot more inward-looking – which doesn’t mean you’re a recluse. Only that a great deal more thought is being given to life condition, direction, the kind of people around you. Sometimes these moments occur after we’ve just bought a take-out cappuccino during a lunch break and are now perched on a park bench. The mind sifts through the known and unknown, striving to make sense of the moment. This need not be a negative process, often it is not: its purpose is to anchor us for spiritual or psychological replenishment. To learn from the life lab. The unconsidered life, after all, is for Duracell rabbits. On the 16th, the start of the end of your ‘introspective’ phase is heralded, with Venus’ move into Sagittarius. This usually warms up the personality, opens you up to partner and friends. Sagittarius New Moon on the 22nd launches your month-long most positive time of the year: your natal expansive, philosophical and educative skills feel revived and renewed.

Capricorn

Capricorn

December 22-January 20

Social networking still preoccupies you as you enter November – and with Venus accompanying your Sun through Aquarius’ traditional house, you’re well primed to charm, schmooze and attract key people. Your mind is also still very much on career objectives and/or status issues. Mercury remains in Capricorn’s very own traditional house till the 8th. October 31-November 2 is a particularly useful phase for negotiations, communicating the bigger picture at work or developing a career-based project through planning. When Mercury hits Aquarius’ house on the 8th, the likelihood increases of involvement in committee work, organisation of socials/events or the seeking-out of new like-minds. 11th-12th is an especially inspired time when imaginative use of language can win you admirers or allies. November could be a time when you decide to part company with certain people no longer on your wavelength, or even to move on from a job that’s incompatible with personal ethos. This determination will be intensified in the 9th-12th phase. At the end of the month, there’s sudden good news about, or for, the family or your domestic environment.

Aquarius

Aquarius

January 21-February 19

Decisions made this month will tend to be clinical, practical, realistic, sentiment-free. Venus, Sun and Mercury will (throughout November at different times) be merging with Saturn, importing an astringent and highly ambitious cast to the mind. The risk is that at times you’ll feel a little isolated, or self-isolating, as if you can scarcely believe yourself how hard-headed you’ve become. But, at best, this is a necessary process to strip away fantasy, time-wasters and any other element that’s a hobble. The 11th-14th is a time to act with some caution as Mars squares ruler Uranus: a determination to do things your way could lead to conflict with colleagues, relatives or others at the receiving end of your communications. Writers or media types can use this heightened energy creatively, but double fact-check everything. Do not imagine, however, that this is a grim time. Sagittarius New Moon on the 22nd promises a month-long phase of increased socialising. You’ll be giving greater attention to the people around you, cultivating new contacts.

Pisces

Pisces

February 20-March 20

If you don’t have a lovely big holiday abroad lined up, or a plan likely to take you away from the humdrum for a while or for good, then the first three weeks of November could find you extra-restless for release from daily routines. Saturn is inviting you to take a leap of faith or to follow-through on a belief or to acquire more knowledge about something that may have interested you for some time. It’s time to show your mettle. This can be a month when new people in your life enable you to progress a dream. Or a month when you dump persons or ideas past their sell-by date. November, at least, is a month for clarifying the basis of hopes and beliefs. 12th-13th, 17th-19th and 25th-26th are the Saturn conjunction phases to look out for. The epic Uranus-Pluto square resumes on the 23rd, electrifying idealistic, social and financial activities. But tread cautiously in all these areas.
