This gorgeous ‘Mirella’ jersey maxi dress from Nancy Dee is an absolute winner. Its flowing shape hugs the figure in all the right places, flowing out into a floor sweeping train at the bottom to provide the most sexy of silhouettes. Echoing the aesthetic of the 1930’s Golden Age of Cinema, the way this dress elegantly falls around the body will no doubt make you feel like a modern-day Joan Crawford, donning a gown as glamorous as those seen in her iconic performance as Letty Lynton. In fact, it was those bias-cut dresses of the 1930’s silver screen starlets that provided the designer of ‘Mirella’ with her main source of creative inspiration.
1930’s Meets 1970’s
Similarly, the floral geometric print finds its source of inspiration from the Art-Deco period also, to create a number that I feel eventually harks back to Ossie Clark’s billowing 70s maxi dresses. So whether you’re a fan of the early or late 20th century, this dress by British-Made Eco-Label Nancy Dee has something for everyone. With its plunging V-neck at the back, subtle cowl-neck at the front and adjustable tie knot (which nicely covers up those not-so-lovely lady lumps!) the dress beautifully marries vintage features with contemporary ones.
Here at EH we’re constantly on the hunt for wardrobe staples which will endure the test of time and fight back against the accelerating cycle of fast fashion trends, so what we really love about this one is how it can easily be carried through from day to night, and from summer to winter, to the summer after! We ask, has there ever been a summer void of floral prints and these repetitive blooms are particularly timeless in their simplicity. Wearing yours with strappy wedges and a wide-brimmed hat on a long summer scorcher. And whilst we’re, thankfully, a while off it yet, as the nights then start to draw in and winter rears its ugly head once again, the deeper hue of the red roses will allow you to team the dress with some glitzy jewellery and stiletto’s for a party look that’s très dark romance.
But the best news is that the girls over at Nancy Dee have kindly offered our readers an exclusive 20% of their first order – and if that’s not enough you can get a further 15% off the next one! Just use the code EHx44 at the checkout. Go to www.nancydee.co.uk to shop the collection now.
