Get a touch of wartime  glamour with a 1940’s makeover at Bletchley Park.

Feel like a celluloid screen goddess, and enjoy a vintage makeover and a glamorous day out on 15th March. This fabulous 1940s Boutique Day includes lessons in hair and makeup of the era. Hair stylist and makeup artist Sarah Dunn will teach students how to create the famous victory rolls as well as other ‘dos’ of the decade. Learn how to get those gorgeous lined eyes and luscious lips with a practical make-up session, demonstrated on Sarah’s fabulous models. Bletchley Park is the Home of the Codebreakers – where vital, to secret code breaking work was carried out during World War Two on behalf of the Allies. It is said that the work carried out at Bletchley Park helped shorten the war by as much as two years. Guests will also be treated to a tour of Historic Bletchley Park, lunch and the chance to chat with like-minded enthusiasts about this most fascinating decade.

Sylist and teacher Sarah Dunn says “As a vintage hair stylist I am inspired by the style and spirit of the 1940s, so it’s a real honour to be bringing the decade back to life at the Home of the Codebreakers.
“The hairstyles of the 1940s are wonderful as there is so much choice, they can be very dramatic as well as feminine and often quite practical. I love how glamorous people feel when they have had a makeover from this era, victory rolls and red lipstick can make anyone feel stylish and it’s amazing to think all this all came out of an age of such hardship and austerity.”

Tickets cost £65 and will go on general sale 1 February.

Give your skin a treat with Dream Cream

If winter is making your skin dry and irritated, treat it to this super moisturizing body lotion from Lush. The scrumptious Dream Cream contains cooling and soothing ingredients like oat milk and chamomile blue oil, which help to calm down itchy and dry skin. As Dream Cream also helps to reduce inflation and redness  it can be used to treat eczema. This lovely body lotion has an exquisite aroma of lavender and rose water, sadly the scent becomes quite faint once it is applied to the skin. It will take a few minutes, but once absorbed, skin is softer, silkier and has a subtle shimmer. A small amount goes a long way and at only £11.25 Dream Cream really is a dream come true!

Ethical Hedonist cleaning tip: How do you clean up spilt milk?

Mop up the excess then sprinkle with baking powder to absorb the milk and nasty smells. Wait for the powder to dry completely, then vacuum up.
