My heart did a flip when I spotted this cool wolf T-shirt. I’ve always wanted my own wolf dog, alas that isn’t terribly practical for a girl who rushes between London and the Isle of Wight interviewing heartthrobs. I hear they need a lot of exercise. Plus the neighbours might not like the call of the wild! So an organic T-shirt is the next best thing. I declare the wolf image is the fashion symbol du jour for winter 2012! Even better – the wolf T-shirt and grey wolf sweatshirt both come in the softest, 100%, organic, Fairtrade cotton and feel like a caress against the skin. These eye catching, fashion statement pieces are designed by my clever geek-boffin-friend, Martin, at Rapanui HQ – who declares he was thinking about ‘Flight of the Concords’. He does have a fertile imagination.
Rapanui’s thoughtful and informed fashion principles are inspired by the great naturalist, Sir David Attenborough, and in particular, his programme on population, on Easter Island. This young fashion company is a little green powerhouse of style and creativity, based on the Isle of Wight. If you are coming to the island anytime soon, pop into their cool, friendly, neighbourhood shop and café in Sandown, a minute from the beach, and check out the very good, local cheese toastie and amazing, aromatic coffee! They even provide deck chairs to watch the world from.
If you know your history and mythology, you will know that Romulus and Remus, the founders of Rome were nurtured and brought up by a devoted female wolf. I’m going to start my own wolf pack! I am cunning too. I am going buy the sweatshirt version for my man, borrow it constantly, and wear it as a mini sweater dress with organic leggings and pink cowboy boots – genius!
