If you pop down to the newsagents today you will notice that one of my vintage fashion stories has been given a new lease of life.

More than twelve years ago, when my career as a feature writer and fashion editor was taking off – I had just interviewed Naomi Campbell and Carla Bruni – a contact asked me to help out with a fashion shoot. So a few days later I found myself styling a fabulously gamine and sexy Samantha Cameron at the Smythson shop on Bond Street.

What shines through in these pictures is the real Sam – lovely, vivacious, warm-hearted and ever so slightly kooky in a way that reminds me of Twiggy in her heyday.

Hooray! We may well have a proper fashion icon in residence at No 10 shortly and, if she needs advice on the cream of ethical British fashion, she knows where to find me. Meanwhile you can read the full story and see more pictures in the Mail On Sunday here.
