Sienna Miller told me that if we all bought at least one pair of organic cotton knickers that we could change the world and help save the planet. How right Sienna is! A girl can never have two many gorgeous underpinnings. Here are some of my favourite lingerie purveyors:
Glorious, decadent, flirty knickers for high days or everyday in hemp silk and bamboo to make you smile and lower your carbon footprint. Knickers have never been quite so alluring, but where to start? You could go for a colourful cartoon print, luxuriant, shimmering frillies in undyed silk, or how about sweet, darling Forget-me-nots, with contrast blue ribbon side tie bows?
One more thing. The bridal knickers are adorable and feature a recycled bow, bouquet of roses and a brooch to hitch something borrowed to… why wait until you are getting married to wear them? They do make very nice pants for boys too; but let’s face it, they don’t come with bows or flowers… shame!
Ethical kittens will love the decadent homage to the art of burlesque and the dream pinup icons of the fifties. Designer Jenny Ambrose sources exquisite fabrics ranging from vegetable dyed Indian silks to sheer georgettes and soya mixed with organic cotton for decadent underpinnings with a practical yet luxe sensibility. Expect chic underwired bras and matching, silky knickers with ribbons and bows galore including Lady Coco – a divine set in inky black jersey bamboo with contrast cream trimmings and matching lace shorties. Other themes in the collection include: delicate rushing and the return of the animal print. Coming soon – darling polka dots for Spring 2010 in cream and pink. A very good site for boyfriends and husbands to visit as it is hard to make a mistake!
People Tree and Ascension are also a great place to look for lingerie basics in organic cotton and bamboo fibres
